From the Tucson loop. 5 months after my surgery for atrial fibrillation, I rode the whole loop and clocked 57 miles (included a little route finding, particularly around 6th Ave and Ajo). I loved not having to worry about cars for a whole day. I spotted a Jumbo Visma pro (Colby Simmons) getting in his miles.
What an enjoyable day! Karen |

Winter is here finally! Got about five inches of nice fluffy stuff. Icy beneath because of the rain and then rapid freeze. So, switch out to the wheels with studded tires. Had to remove front fender to fit the Freddies Revenz tire, but the W240 fit fine on the back. About nine miles in 1:15, mix of pavement (icy in the car tire tracks), dirt road, jeep track, and single track. Any ruts and I slipped out. Lotta work but a lotta fun. Was the only bike out (should tell me something!).
18F so balaclava, Sorels, and Marmot winter gloves did the trick. The sign is at a trail dedicated to a friend who died at 68 of a heart attack a few weeks ago while leading the weekly gravel ride. Reminds me to be grateful for every day I'm alive (and especially able to go for a ride!) |

No photos from recent rides, but I'll drop a few from the past years.
First set: Attempted Mauna Kea summit in August of 2021. Pretty crazy ride, more or less easy riding until the access road, then it's a steep grind to the top. The gravel section is notably tricky. Disappointed that I didn't make it to the peak, but maybe I'll come back some day. Photos are of the very start (~6:30 am), base of the access road, more access road, visitor center, gravel section, and final stretch of pavement about where I stopped. Learned a painful lesson in nutrition and fueling. Mount Rose is beautiful. Incredible event, excellent people, a beautiful route, and an amazing experience overall. Hope you enjoy! |

I have been waiting to take out this new to me bike for a few days. It did not disappoint even in 20degree New England weather.
