Tom Waits
Been a fan since being introduced to him in 1980 in Washington Square Park by an uncle who used to work at a club in the Village where Tom played. This new song with Marc Ribot is really moving. The album has some good stuff. I like the Steve Earle / Tift Merritt songs too.

Guessing first pressing since it was purchased back in the day. Been stuck in my head all day since sitting and listening to both sides this morning....
Sounds flat on YT but at least you get a sense if you've never heard it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfP7sgdAwtM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6tDxQ2MyoA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBT7YAyC8JQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA9Bd0yOv3w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mai-7gtRIss William Last edited by William; 09-24-2018 at 09:01 PM. |

The past week it's been the beautiful voice of Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation fame.
Her new project is My Indigo and the song Out of the Darkness is amazing. In fact I'm totally enjoying the whole album as it competes with Sol Seppy's latest work for my listening time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85VqEu5pIm8 |

The other day I was going through a thread on another cycling forum about music from the 1960s, and I was reminded of "Georgy Girl" by The Seekers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsIbfYEizLk ...and then I vividly recalled my very early memories of that tune: Being 5 years old and hanging out with my brother on our bunkbeds looking out over the parking lot that was behind the apartment complex where we lived in 1966 (in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh PA). I'm not sure why I associate that tune with that image -- it's not like we had a radio in our bedroom -- but whenever I hear that tune I'm instantly transported back to that age and that room. ...and of course, now I can't get "Georgy Girl" out of my head!!! Arrggghhh... |

Saw these guys a couple of months ago. Their EP is worth checking out if you like 60's garage rock revival bands like Tame Impala and Temples.

Starfire Caitlyn Smith, I love the voice. It's just something when her voice hits the higher octaves.
