This bike's on a journey involving at least three work stands: After 14 years of pretty hard life in a salt air environment, its achilles heel turned out to be the cable guides on the underside of the top tube. So it spent time on my work stand being totally disassembled. Next, I shipped it to Dave (with his encouragement, of course), where he replaced the cable guides with stainless ones on his work stand. Soon it'll be on JB's work stand for total refinishing. I plan to have it done in the same color scheme because I've always loved it. This is the bike that won the NAHBS prize for fillet brazed frames, btw. Dave checked and confirmed that the frame's alignment was still perfect and that all is in order. Can't wait to get it back after its second trip through the DK and JB work stands. |

EL Chaba, break a leg or something so that you can lift your carcass off that Singer and snap a few more pics for us.

I was so happy to discover that my new-to-me 1980 Spectrum fits 32s.

Very nice. Alas, those stays on the JB workstand can be … lengthy, I know.

Putting together a new Ibis DV9. These are supposed to have tube-in-tube routing to make running cables/hosses a breeze. I was having trouble getting the dropper post housing to pop out the seat tube.
Took a look inside the frame, and it seems like after the housing comes out from its internal guide, it's colliding with a wrinkle in the carbon fiber. Not great. I've email Ibis to see what they think, but pretty disappointed by this. Video of the problem: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GTTgRC7QQi4BHcQPA

Rivendell Rambouillet
Got this off Epicus07 a few weeks back and have a first build using parts that came with it. Got 2 surprisingly quick group rides on 20 mile route the last couple of days. I got some tan and brown parts coming. I think that will look right. Have a NOS Dura Ace 7700 hubset on the way to get some wheels built up. Hopefully, oldpotatoe can help me there.

Hunh.
Interesting. Was under the very direct impression that he would only do the tesselated logo seat tube on new builds and not a panel. Guess things have changed. Nice frameset! |

Thanks, I hope I'm mentally prepared for that! Luckily have bikes to ride.

There are a few ideas I could try (that's one of them), but waiting to hear back from Ibis considering that it's a new frame, under warranty, and this sure looks like a manufacturing defect to me.
