While @hummus_aquinus was re-creating the Jackie Treehorn Zuma beach party, we were doing our annual solstice(ish) sunset ride up to Mt. Wilson.

I took a 45 mile ride today from my home in SLO to Pismo Beach, thru Avila then over See Canyon and down Perfumo before heading out towards Morro Bay and back home. Never has a 14.4 mph average ride hurt so badly. On Strava I named it “Holy headwinds, Batman!“ The pictures represent the ride. The first one shows the top of See Canyon where after protracted 15+ percent grades there is this 20+ percent kick up which is the most painful 60 m in the county. I feel hypoxic even looking at this photo.
The second photo shows the top of Perfumo Canyon looking out over Morro Bay, which is covered in a marine inversion layer today. Beautiful view.

I only ran into 4 other cyclists and it was two couples riding as a group. I deviated west from some of the official route to skirt the Bootleg Fire burn zone closure.
