What's in the Workstand ? ?

Time VSX. Purchased as a frame and fork. Needed nee front and rear derailleur hangers. The rear was easy. The front took a bit of work. Built up with Campy Chorus. First ride was last weekend. So far, so good.

Work Bench:

I have managed to kill another set of UT bearings. This is on my travel bike that has some upcoming travel in the works so it needs to be reliable, so it's fortunate I caught this at home with time to spare. Going with Kogel ceramic replacement bearings with the cross seals.

Arghh... I dealt with this a few times... Do you have the bearing puller/setter? I can lend you mine if you dont have em.. can even meet you at port authority

I might even have an extra set of used but good bearings you can have, if you want an extra set just to have on hand.

I think it's been over a year since I last had the Banke out. Fresh tires and a cool Stronglight crank that I had wanted to put on another bike. Just not finding the Activ Link BB in ITA. I always seem to forget how smooth and light this bike is. 17.0 lbs and soaks up the road.

Guessing that's a thing? It is wicked light, I'll keep an eye. I have another one with an Isis BB that has been used without issue.

Were these UT bearings CULT spec? Regardless of the UT crankset tier, I usually end up buying a set of CULT and swapping them out.

The CULT ones in my experience have been bullletproof. Every once in a while I clean them out. Maybe buy a set of those vs. Kogel, but I am sure the Kogel are just as nice.

Pretty easy work with the Campy bearing puller and a pliers to remove the ring.

Yea, to be fair, I have zero recollection of the history of this crank. I rebuilt my Serotta with this as a conversion to a 1x crank, so I really dont remember the history of this thing in my parts bin.

Regardless, Kogel bearings ordered and should be here this week, to be pressed in and back on the road.

Very common for them to break at the chainring bolts, they were made for TIME too and many of those broke as well.

Keep an eye on it for sure.

Thanks for the heads up! Another forum member that I frequently ride with has a couple sets. He's putting more power to the pedals this year than I am. I'll sprint passed when I hear them cracking.

In the process of building up this Waterford-built Rivendell Roadeo with Chorus 12. Has 32mm tires on it now but fits up to 38mm. Getting close! Just to need to set up the shifting and wrap the bars. Will probably drop the bars a little lower (maybe with a -17 stem). I debated silver components but decided against it and I think the black works with the white frame. The black circle on the top tube is just some padded tape to prevent the untaped handlebar from dinging the top tube when it inevitably swings around during the build process.

Right now this is in the workstand getting wiped down. It's been hanging as a display for years. I plan to tear it down for a full refurb and then hopefully turn it into a similar quality bike in my size.
