Full disclosure: these are photos from my hike. Debated between hiking and taking my gravel bike. I'm glad I opted for hiking. Some of those climbs are above twenty percent, and I need lower gearing for that.

Yeah the view is insane, the picture dosent really do it justice, you really feel like you are on top of the world.
It's in the Adirondacks, a few miles outside of Lake Placid

This past weekend my wife and I went bike packing across Catalina island. Much harder than anticipated! Was meant to be an out and back trip, but we decided to take a boat back. Checked off my list!

Last Tuesday MTB in Essex Chain Lakes . . .
. . . just south of Newcomb in the Adirondacks. The absolute back end of nowhere out to the end of the trail at the Cedar River. Didn't see another soul all day. When this area first opened in 2016 the old logging roads were in pretty good shape and I could use a gravel bike. But it's been designated a "primitive area" and so I don't think they are maintaining the roads any longer. Lots of downed trees and smaller branches but not unmanageable on a mountain bike. It's a superb place to ride if you want some peace and quiet. Just about as far aback in the woods as you can go!

All these were shot with my new Panazonic Lumix ZS200. Superb little camera, shoots RAW format, has 24-360mm equivalent optical zoom, and oversized sensor for better image quality. Small enough to stick in a jersey pocket and have with me all the time.
