That was my first instinct until I realized it wasn't the original New Winner. Trying to see if it's worth talking or sending it to him. It sure is one heavy beast.

It may all wait until I figure out where I'm going to use the wheels. I was initially thinking about having them share time with the tubulars I normally run on the Opus III. But with bigger tires.

Except that the Opus is the only bike I've run for years with a seatpost about an inch lower than my norm. Now with the second knee replacement not working out I'm having to actually move all my seatpost up about 1/2 inch to compensate for the lack of flexibility. Not sure if I'll ever ride the Opus again.

Pastor Bob is the Ultimate Freewheel Whisperer. Formerly of New Hampshire, now on the Georgia coast, he’s pretty much the go-to guy for freewheel repair and resucitation.

I see, thank you for the enlightenment, I wished I knew that a few years ago when I was helping a pal with his old Raleigh freewheel issue.

A Calfee unicorn.. and another "huh, well, why not.." purchase.

I didn't even know this model existed until I saw it on eBay/Craigs.. a Luna Adventure rim-brake - spec'd with mid-reach brakes, more relaxed geo, and the usual impeccable but somewhat wabi-sabi craftsmanship that characterizes a Calfee. The deal was good enough to just do it. If it's not for me, it'll be for somebody. The clearance out back is roughly for 35s. Up front it's limited by the side-to-side clearance of the fork - but swap in a Whiskey No7 RD+ and you'd be floating happy on 35s F/R.. fun times. It's an eclectic SRAM Double-Tap 10spd wide-range setup now - but shortly will be running Chorus 12 wide-range on there.. if I can find some PF30 cups in my stash. That's the only oddity on it - was spec'd for pressfit when every other Calfee I've seen is threaded BSA. Ah well, still a really bike and it's in perfect condition (frameset, parts are a bit tired). Looking forward to giving it a spin here soon.
