"The Boys in the Boat." That is an incredible read as I was a sculler for many years. The documentary is great as well since they put in a lot of actual footage. Most any bike aficionado would relate.

Portland Confidential: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Rose City.

Working out with a client yesterday that grew up outside Portland. I'm a true crime buff. It's my favorite genre. He said that Portland, in the middle of the last century, was a hotbed of crime and corruption. Pinball machines were a big underground enterprise, evidently.

two books -
Small Puddles... about the worst oarsman at Yale. I am an old rower and sculler. Brought back memories. The epilogue brought me up short. The book is really a story about perseverance. Really kind of unforgettable.

Zendurance. This is a series of books I constantly go back to. The fellow is a triathlete - in his 60s - and he writes about neural training - really the application of mindfulness and awareness to training. Fascinating stuff that I use. It underscores what I have contended for some time that cycling, swimming - so many similar activities are really forms of spirituality that the religious world simply ignores in favor of the constant focus on cognition and doctrine in one form or another.

Nice history of the major builders of the 70s and 80s. Didn't know there were as many Dura Ace AX groups in existence as there are pictured in the book.

Just got done with Glass House by Brian Alexander

For me, it shed a little light about how Private Equity firms have had a strong hand in the decline of American Manufacturing. Even more so is how the investors in PE firms are "working class" pension and retirement funds, like some weird cannabalistic cycle.

Ian Fleming's Bond is completely different than the character in the campy movies of the same name.
