Slayer 17.7 inches wide. Linea Mini 14 inches wide. Hopefully, me being on the other side of the country will be enough of a hurdle to keep your wife from dropping by to kick my butt. í ˝í¸ś Jon Last edited by stackie; 03-09-2016 at 10:33 AM. Reason: Add dimensions |

Seriously though, back on topic.
I would opine that the professional nature and quality of the La Marzocco machine will make it a forever machine. With decent care, service, and maintenance it should be the last machine you ever need to buy. As far as shot quality goes, I think you could get the same shots from an Alex Duetto or Rocket Rocket R58. But for roughly 1500 more you are getting a shop quality machine. I don't think you would regret the Linea mini. Not one bit I think I did know at one time that you were an espresso fanatic. I don't know how you've gone six months without a machine. Jon |

When you do go plumbed, consider an in-line cat-ion softener cartridge along with a sediment+carbon filter combo. The water pH is pretty decent in the bay area, but I'm always shocked at the stuff that comes outta the pipes, when the city does work near by or I need to turn off/on the house water. |

Has been a hard six months. What made it possible was knowing I would be switching jobs and, being risk averse, I could either buy under the old budget constraint or wait for the new job and buy under the new budget constraint.

Any La Pavoni fans here? A friend has one and he has it dialed. Delicious shots.

Also, since I have had both my Versalab and Duetto now for that much time, I am sooooo dialed in with both of them. Can go from one companies beans to the next with just a couple of experimental shots. Sometimes not even that. I use Klatch, Redbird, Metropolis and Counter Culture beans. Oh, and there is a local place or 2 that I might buy from if I am in the area.

Espresso machines
Pulled this out of my Silvia/Baratza encore setup. Went for Stumptown's Holler Mountain as opposed to my usual standby of Hair Bender. Still working on the pouring skills but making progress!
