Last US championship on steel was probably Jonathan Page on a RS.

Hey KonaSS

After reading this bit I just had to reply: still racing that steel Vail Cycle Sports frame I bought from you in 2008 or 09! It’s now my SS CX with a magic gear. Still loving the sport

Though of course newer technology is better/faster - but perhaps not by that much. At least not at my CAT3 level…!

Cross of the North is this weekend at New Belgium. If anyone in Paceline land is on the fence - come on up. Best weekend of the year in Fort Collins

I just remembered too, the year I bought my Poprad was when they first offered it in disk or canti brakes. I chose Canti because I had like 4 really nice tubular wheelsets. In hind site if I had gone with disk I'd still have a more modern bike today. If I was ever going to race cross again I would definitely get a disk bike.

I might to the 50 plus Maters on the Poprad though

I had a disc Poprad. Though it was one of the best fitting bikes I've ever had, I remember never being quite happy with any of the cable disc brake offerings and wishing for a bit more and better tires than the 40mm hybrid offerings available in the mid 00s. Was a bit jealous of my friend who was running his canti Poprad with MiniMotos.

^ Is that really a Bianchi? Or is it repainted and rebadged as a Bianchi? I've never seen them do bendy seatstays like that.

It's a Bianchi.....check the lower head tube lug, you can see an engraved B.

It's a "Cross Project USA", which was only sold as a frameset in the mid 90s. Angry has one as well, pictured in post 7 in this thread.
