I like it. The fact it is light, tough and works w/ micro adjust letting you find the exact seat position makes it look right to me. The stems otoh have a bad rep so i dislike it.

Disc brakes look better on these modern carbon frames, steel suits rim brakes IMO. Same goes for the new Shimano groupsets. Steel and Campagnolo is a good match. Thomson finishing kit is not the most elegant, and that saddle is a bit of a minger. Still a very nice bike though.

That De Rosa is very nice, but the stem is too short and if a bike has a level top tube, then the stem should be the same angle (-17).

I disagree. The stem length looks fine. Looks like a 100mm. Angle wise, I don't see an issue with it either. Whatever fits is key.

Because rather than make a proper setback seatpost they made some sort of dog's crooked red rocket. It's atrocious.

I am fine with the looks. If it were me buying it, I'd be fine with it. It's not like a 135 degree stem or anything.

That is a beautiful bike. Ive never seen one in the flesh, but it is no doubt finely detailed and exquisitely finished.

Did they ever actually release if? I've never seen one in the wild and it doesn't appear to be on their site.

No, they never did. I have a few of the prototypes here but there aren't many floating around in general. Maybe a dozen made? It's funny how many people used to ask about one and saying they'd buy it but when they did, everyone was like, WHY? It was really odd. I have prototype Masterpiece Carbons as well. And carbon cradles.

Thomson can't get alloy bits right, no way I'd ever trust them with carbon.

Their carbon bar is ok. I’m not sure they make it but it works as well as other CF bars I own.

You're trusting them with carbon and aluminum every time you fly a Dreamliner or Boeing plane. The 787 Dreamliner wing spar was made in China and then shipped to the US(Washington). Boeing found out that China screwed up the placement of some holes on the wing. Thomson had to do the refitting. They rearranged the shop floor and made a special section for them to get worked on. They had to drill holes and fit new pieces they were making in-house for the wings. They also had to do carbon lay-up on them.

Thomson has been doing carbon for 20 years. The first carbon bars and seatposts were designed and made in-house. Same with the ti bars and posts. Then it was Lynskey making the ti parts Then the carbon and ti parts shifted to Asia. Lynskey couldn't do the bars and post consistently without issues/failure and the carbon parts, they ruled they didn't have the time to do it. They started the carbon stuff at the time the wing spars came in. They didn't have the space and manpower to do both. So they shifted it overseas. It is a proprietary design though.

They do do things right. There is a ton of Thomson made parts on planes we scoot around on.
