Concur. I find the braking on the WTOs to be as good, if not better, than alloy. I wouldn't ride them in the rain. Not because I'd be worried about the diminished braking performance, but because I don't ride in the rain these days.

Don't drag brake on long descents and you'll be fine. I'm 6'2"/200 lbs and wouldn't hesitate to ride my WTOs on any descent. Even though Tuna Canyon isn't a personal favorite, I'd be fine to ride my WTOs there as well.

If still concerned about the mountains, one could get a set of Zonda wheels to go along with the WTOs. Very affordable, especially when they go on sale, and a really outstanding wheel.

They handle very well in cross winds. Today’s ride was very very windy. Return leg with the wind doing 25-27 mph. Got nudged a bit here and there, but nothing approaching concerning.

Did a google search to see if the new Hyperons were disc only (seems like they are), and this interesting threat came up.

Just want to piggy-back on what is quoted: having shopped around a bit for wheels and noted the various prices and offerings out there, it's astounding to me how anyone could purchase something other than Campagnolo.

What really baffles me, though, is people buying wheels from brands that are more expensive (sometimes considerably more expensive) than Campagnolo, and getting a product that is at best equal to, but more than likely inferior to what Campagnolo has to offer. As others have said, their bearings/hubs are the best in the world, the build quality and workmanship is class leading, an aesthetically they can't be beat (although that is admittedly subjective). When you then consider, on top of all that, that you are supporting a longstanding Italian/European company that is still manufacturing most of their top end products in Italy/Europe, paying people decent wages, it's really a no-brainer. I honestly don't understand why I so rarely see other people riding Campagnolo wheels and/or groups...

Reading all these Bora reviews does makes one think why anyone would buy non-Campy carbon rim wheels except price and warranty, ie not a performance based decision.

I don't ride a carbon wheelset (Fulcrum alloy wheels won't die so I'm stuck riding them) but if I did I would be tempted to either pay a lot and have a great warranty from Reserve or ZIPP or pay a lot less and go with a reasonably good reputation Chinese direct to consumer (Lightbicycle or BTLOS (based on so many PL reviewers)).

It is interesting to see the large number of middle ground priced wheelsets without obvious value proposition.

I mean, there are always options out there. I bought whiskey rims, Sapim CX Ray spokes, and onyx hubs and had a local builder build my wheels for less than these campy wheels.

I can’t speak for whisky rims vs bora rims, but I can guarantee I enjoy the onyx hubs over whatever their offering is.

does that also hold for regular non-WTO Bora rim brake wheels?

Asking 'my guy' at Campag,NA. It COULD be their supplier just chooses to not carry them. QBP is (in)famous for dropping stuff 'they' see as to a small market.

My BTLOS wheels came in 20 gms less than the weight projected on their website. They've been absolutely trouble free in 1500 miles of gravel use.

Asked my guy in Campagnolo,NA and these(WTO rim brake) are NOT out of production. Nor are many rim brake wheels from Campagnolo or Fulcrum.
Just a lot of distributors who sell Campagnolo aren't carrying them because of the disc brake demand.
Maybe have the LBS give Jerry a call and ask him who distributes Campagnolo rim brake wheels in the US.
