I was in New Orleans a few weeks ago and walked around in the French Quarter. There were lots of street musicians, They were all good.

Not sure if too many people here listen to the heavier stuff, but I have really been enjoying Trivium's latest album The Sin and The Sentence. As a drummer myself, it is crazy to watch their drummer play so fast with such ease:

Trivium is not heavy. Well not heavy enough for me. Their new drummer is excellent though. Alex Bent. Played a show with him some years ago when he was in Hatriot. He's very talented. lt would be nice if they made him a full time member, song writing credits, etc. and not just a hired musician.

I've been on a Michael Schenker-UFO era kick for some time now.

The last few days it's been Mark Knopfler's "5:15 AM"

(I usually post live versions but they were all pretty bad, so here's the track from the album "Shangri-La")

Some Newcastle criminal, social and mining history, all rolled up in one song.

Love it. Just don't watch some of his recent interviews.

For some unknown reason, Chicago's "Little One" has been running through my head this morning. I haven't heard that song since probably 1986, and if I remember right, it came out in about 1978, and no one who didn't have the album (yes, before CDs) Chicago XI would have even heard it.

Heaviness is all relative of course

I first noticed Alex in his Battlecross days; saw them play live once then there was a video of Alex doing blast beats on his cowbell... Insanely talented guy; I am hoping too that he doesn't turn out to be just another session drummer for them. Apparently Paul Wandtke was an arrogant prick; Alex seems much more down to earth.

The Altered Carbon soundtrack. Fun series on Netflix. Nice mix of music.
