@velocipede is correct, here is what I did as a workaround. I removed the Ekar bearings from my cranks and installed “normal” Campy ones for my bottom bracket install. If you do that, any Campy bottom bracket will work with Ekar cranks. Below is a picture of an Ekar bearing and you can see the special seal it has on it that interfaces with the Ekar specific bottom bracket. Disclaimer - I live in California and don’t see a lot of mud so I’m not concerned about needing special seals. Although I’ve run normal Campy bearings for years in the wet and they do very well as long you service them.

One thing I didn't see in perusal (not detailed reading - I read like a lawyer, only at about 1/20th the speed) of this thread - availability of aftermarket hubs.

White Industries is a couple of months away from shipping hubs with the Ekar (N3W??) driver. We have a set on order, there has been some interest. That's the only hub mfgr I've heard from with plans for it. With the delivery lead times they're all asking for these days, I'd be shocked if any others have any capacity to do anything about it for quite some time.

To be "stranded" with WI as the option is far from a bad thing.

DT has theirs out but are already sold out
Aivee is testing theirs and should have it in a couple weeks

Yes they are - the last I heard from i9 itself on Jan 14 "And no updates on the new freehubs. They were ordered back in november, but they haven't made it into production yet... Hopefully in the next couple of months!"

Then my builder checked recently and they said April.

They said they are when I asked, but wouldn’t share an expected timeframe for release. Said it would be announced on social media, though.

I9 is now asking for 7 to 11 weeks lead time on hub orders, and longer than that for wheels.

We have some non-N3W Aivee hubs on order that are on 8 week lead time.

King is at 90-ish days lead time.

Things are crazy.

A few sets of the new Classics. They should ship from Aivee soon enough, and they're for stock so no huge hurry. Thanks though!

out of curiosity, looked on ebay, seems the n3w freehub bodies are available for DT Swiss, while imperfect, could allow you to get up and running fast(er)

It's a new hub that's replacing the MP4. Same engagement mech/speed (good), same bearings (also good), same geometry (ditto) but lighter weight by about 50 across the set. Available in CL and 6 bolt, I think all the normal axles plus Boost. So as I understand it the MP2 drops away and the MP4 gets supplanted by the Classic.

Take a look at the pic below. It’s not shown super clear in the tech manual but the cable has a specific routing-
