This is the bargain bike I built up for my girlfriend's son's 17th birthday. He's been mountain biking with me a few times, and loves it, but living in Nebraska we don't get to enjoy that as much as we want. Gravel is the next best thing in our neck of the woods, and I've been riding it for a few years now (first on my road bikes, and now on a disc 'Lugi). We've only been out once together due to the winter weather, but he seemed to really enjoy it!

Thanks to all I've purchased from on this forum to help make this budget build possible!

Currently has the stock Schwalbe Racing Ralphs, gonna get some Clement LAS tires for gravel grinding, or at least until next cross season.
I saw one of those at the local shop, love at first site. It was in that mint Bianchi color.

Awesome Rock Lobster. You don't see many of them and that color is quite unusual.

Thanks KP pal. Now if what you said is true, and I have no reason to doubt that because you are so involved with the industry and well informed, this will be the first sports car I own

"The company (Merlin) was founded in 1986 by Gwyn Jones, Gary Helfrich, and Mike Augspurger in Cambridge, Massachusetts[2] They were the first to manufacture bicycle frames constructed solely from titanium. Merlin became known for their meticulous and visually pleasing puddle welds; this contributed to their reputation as the Lamborghini of bicycle frames.."

The pacenti wheels were the perfect match for a bike of this caliber.

I dislike Internet bike diagnosis but my Mark 1 calibrated eyeball shows me the straddle (transverse) cable in the front looks to be excessively long, leading to too little mechanical advantage on the front brake set. I would personally lower it to at least as low as possible with the current main cable.

JWDR pal, thank you for the advice, i will fix it tonight!

I was wondering about that...seems like it has a lot more resistance on the brake levers to pull these Paul brakes than say a regular dual pivot. Is that normal?

You can increase/decrease the amount of resistance (aka spring tension) by rotating the square-ish looking spring adjuster nuts.
IIRC, I think the Paul Neo Retro manual says to set the straddle 3 inches above the tire if you can. I set it a tad lower and it's good.

That's an awesome bike btw. Nice acquisition.
