Humidity was up today, so I decided to revisit the shade ride.

Short stretch of pavement connecting to a trail loop in McDowell Mtn Park.

I was excited to test on mostly smooth single track Donnelly MSO 650b x 50mm tires. They fall in the 80/20 covering road to gravel well but don’t cut it on single track when cornering hard at high speeds but no surprise there. Fun tires!

NJ Lime kilns

There are lime kilns scattered around Hunterdon County NJ (and Warren and Morris counties). This is a single one in Hunterdon; the best one is a set of three in Carpentersville, NJ.

The ones in Carpentersville are on River Road, just north of where River Road intersects with Creek Road.

In the morning, 29x2.25 tires and full suspension. In the afternoon, 700cx23 tires and a fixed gear. Perfect, albeit gusty, day on Martha's Vineyard.

Fauxroica

Absolutely perfect day for the Eroica route, not too cold starting out and not too hot in the valley. I had gone such a long time without a flat that 3 in one ride felt like make-up; also my brother jettisoned a water bottle on the Santa Rita washboard descent, didn't discover it until many miles later. Saw a few others out doing the route, though I didn't see any toe clips.

Yesterday’s view on my very easy, recovery ride, to mark the Spring solstice ( Southern Hemisphere).
