Found this baby Gaggia for $20 on the local FB market. She said it didn't work so I took the large risk to repair it. Turns out it was just a dirty solenoid valve.

It'll be especially swank once I replace that placeholder with a nicely made wooden base!

What’s on your coffee bench?
I seriously feel like I’ve been living under a rock. Doing some digging on YouTube I came across a few espresso tool videos and technique refinements. Ordered a couple of things to joint the 21st century
Leveling tool and new tamper stand. Like the concept of the leveling tool, but not entirely sold on it yet. Have a new tamper coming in and a needle tool to wdt the grounds. My grinder tends to clump them up a bit. |

Just installed a wall shelf to keep the coffee bench less crowded...nothing fancy like the rest of y'all!

Probably a more generic coffee question hence putting it in this thread - aware there are a few coffee threads right now.
Anyone drinking any fantastic espresso right now? I usually buy from roasters based in California as that's where I am. I recently bought a bag from a small roaster based in Altadena called Unincorporated Coffee and it is exquisite. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed any espresso this much. The tasting notes are 'Full Bodied, Sweet Aromas, Toasted Almonds, Chocolate'. I'd say that's accurate. Medium roast is the darkest I go. I also like very juicy, bright filter, so lighter beans are fine too. Any other great espresso roasts across the country I should be checking out? I've obviously Google'd this extensively but any first hand experience would be cool. Happy to spend up to $20 a bag but can go over for something really good. I don't love the idea of buying $25-30 bags of super rare micro lots though, because I want to buy it again if I enjoy it. |

On rotation for me (all SF Bay Area roasters):
Andytown - Short Strand Espresso Cat and Cloud - The Answer Verve - Streetlevel All of the above are great by itself or for milk based drinks. FWIW, they're all lightish to medium roasts. |

I lean towards on the darker side of medium roasts...FWIW. |
