Good times again at D2 yesterday. The humidity in the morning was almost unbelievable, it was hard to tell on the climbs if the water pouring off of me was sweat or mist or...
The did switch the lunch spot to the other side of the road, right across from the bridge, which i think was a mistake. I think the idea was for everyone to have more room to spread out, but it was just a big field of semi tall grass that no one wanted to wade into, so everyone just would up pretty bunched up along the road. Hopefully next year we're back to the big tents, etc. Good to finally meet @slowpokepete and @nhaero - fun times!

1st ride as a Maryland resident. Also the 1st ride in several months, with selling, moving and getting settled in, taking precedence. Felt great to get out again.
Pics: 1/2 way point, back home in front of oak tree and humming bird moth.

double take ? the tree almost has roots along the branch - or may be it is just lichen?
the uohill was fun... but, i need some training/tips for the downhill parts. I chickened out and walked down. IMG_2732.jpg

Went out on the 36 year old Opus III with a plan to just cruise around a bit and take some pictures. Didn't even bother to put on a helmet. Despite last night's rains and 70 mph winds the smoke had snuck back in so not good for shooting landscapes. On top of that the Opus kept sneaking back up to full speed on me. Had to rein it in at one point when I caught myself over 27 mph. I do not need to wreck with no helmet on at those speeds. I'm already batty enough, LOL!
I did grab some pics along the way although most were of the Opus, man I love this bike! Starting out, old truck outside the old general store in the little town I live in:  Another mile or so along there's this beautiful barn I love to shoot against:  All the rain we have finally been getting has greened things up nicely. Damn smoke though, you can hardly see the moutains on the left there.  A hint of fall colors up on the hills already:  One of the many crazy homes being built up here now. Nothing small and affordable anymore, sad.  One of the other barns along my normal daily route.  One shot of the bike in the town square. 36 years old, with 40 year old tubular rims, Superbe 53/42T setup with six in the back, DT shifter, and still fast as all get out!  Another shot from the square.  Don't tell PETA about this chained up bear, LOL!  Just one of the many whimsical yards in the small town.  I will say today's ride was a testament to not having to worry about riding with tubulars. Like I said, high winds last night and the roads were loaded with all sorts of debris. 35 miles riding through stuff and no issues.
