First ride outside in quite a while due to the smoggy smoke conditions.. still not great out there but not too awful.
Did some noodling on the new 650b setup. Dropped off some packages, got a loaf of bread. Good times. It’s an interesting feeling bike - comfortable and nimble - fun around town - but would need a lot of getting used to for longer rides, and a few adjustments.

In my defense, it is a garlic and thyme heirloom wheat sourdough loaf..

Ok. That works too. Just wash it down with a tasty ale....and maybe some smelly cheese to boot.

Yeah, I assumed you didn’t pick up a Wonder bread. Do they even sell that in OR? |

The bike looks really good. I will say that it looks a little "naked" without the fenders, but I suppose you don't need fenders much in Bend in August. My MAP fenders have been put to use this summer in Tucson--almost 14 inches of rain here since July.
I'd encourage you to do some long rides and climbs on it to get accustomed to the low trail handling. Don't just make it your townie (although it will excel at that too). Larch Mtn is calling. Quote:

I wish we’d have had that much rain.. could certainly use it. I think the 42s will fill it out better. I just wanted to keep it simple for the shake-down rides and not put the fenders on right away. It pedals really well on climbs and I’m very curious what it will feel like for extended flat miles. Maybe tomorrow if the winds are blowing just right.

An easy ride, in tough conditions. Seasonal winds at this time of year, 17-20 knots, compared to the average of 3-4 knots in non-windy months.
Was nice to see some green coming through, in what is usually dull (shades of brown) and dry winter. About 30km south of Johannesburg (RSA). |
