http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/page/l...6#.Ussf-NJDuSo http://egipeloton.blog.hu/ / "Immortal on people who are no longer here. Immortal on who will hopefully stay with us for a long time.' http://m.blog.hu/eg/egipeloton/image/SMaes/Maes03.jpg In 1905, started first in the Tour de France, and according to legend, military service was spent. A few days leave from, just at the start of the Tour. Trousselier so calculated, if good results obtained at the tournament, you will not get a severe punishment in the army, which was then the desertion is punishable, as the race was longer than the freedom given. Won five stages of the tournament, and the first compound is also obtained. After the race, all of his money in a game of dice has been lost in the Tour, but this simply responded that it will take the Tour de France, where you can win again. The story goes that the French army was indeed forgiving to him in terms of arbitrarily extended from escaping. some of the information below, is told differently than the book recently published / from site listed above. Gino Bartali next to Florence's Ponte Emában this was the 1914th July 18. Typical Tuscan components: hard-working, stubborn and deeply religious. Stopped early learning, and have a bike shop mechanic, the number of races run in addition to working as an amateur. Despite being one of the nicknames of Il Pio Bartali was not much mercy shown during the race, the start of the career of one of the most competitive befutójakor opponents locked Bartalit who, instead of around them, went straight for the goal, way broken himself of rivals through the ring, which of course ended in failure. After the incident, no one had remembered to close the longer sprint Bartalit. A deeply religious Gino Bartalit three personally blessed by the Pope. The Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France at the time of his hotel room set up a small altar every time there praying. Some mountain stages Catholic children were camped along the way, led by priests and religious carols sang under the baton when Bartali passed them. Gino Bartali in 1935 became a professional racer, and later that year won the Giro d'Italia mountain undershirt, which has won six more times during his career. The high mountains reaching won countless races: three times overall in the Giro d'Italia in the first place (1936, 1937, 1946), twice won the Tour de France (1938, 1948). 1936 also cyclist's brother Giulio Bartali was killed in a race accident occurred in his life, because Gino almost stopped racing. Bartali not only the circuit races featured prominently, but the one-day competitions, four times won the Milan-Sanremo and the Giro di Lombardia three times, and twice the Züri-Metzgetét. Four times national champion. Driver's career can not be omitted when referring to the relationship with Fausto Coppin, but this will be a separate entry on this site in the future. Gino Bartali began to use Campagnolo parts of the very first, so he will not have to be the bike you want to change speed. Contemporaries said that when Bartali shifted gears (which was no easy feat for him even with the early converters), now everyone watched in horror as Bartali attack could then be calculated. If Gino Bartali won one race would not even be mentioned among the immortals. Giorgio Nissim, an Italian Jew as a member of a secret network of Jewish compatriots tried to save the sight of Nazi terror. However, in 1943 this network was discovered and eliminated, except Nissim was arrested and taken to a concentration camp everyone. However Nissimnek excellent relations were Catholic circles, so with their help at least 800 Jews were saved from destruction. After his death in 2000, Nissim children found in the logs, and the publication time - to everyone's surprise - turned out to be a member of the movement Gino Bartali was (in 1935 he became a member of Azione Cattolica s). Nissim Lucci monks operated using a secret printing press where the fake IDs were taken, but it was necessary to prepare the papers for prospective card holder your photo, most of whom were not local. Bartali Florence bike started to train in the morning, then stopped than the monastery, where the Jews were hiding, they picked up the fundraising sleeve hidden photos that are hidden away in the government of his bicycle and started Nissimhez. The completed documents similar módott Bartali took compatriots waiting to escape. However, Bartali could be the partisans of the fascists (raids the place, time etc) for valuable information. However, the Italian fascists were powerless, they knew exactly Bartali's arrest would lead to a revolt in the country. The German Nazis, however, did not care, Bartalit Villa Trieste taken, where hundreds of dissidents were tortured. Bartalit interrogated, and were instructed to cease any activity that is intended to save the Jews. Bartali but merely replied that it does what the heart dictates. They could not be intimidated, so when in 1943 several Catholic was forced to hide in a mountain leader, Bartali led you through the mountains of the Swiss Alps, groups of Jews before the Nazi patrols nose. Bartali finally built a car-like device in hid the fugitives. When the patrol stopped, I just replied to a drag car is an important part of training. Gino Bartali never told anyone about what he had done in the emergency era, the son of Andrea also just said that everyone would have done. The 1948 Tour de France Bartali won the first stage, but later Bobet took the yellow jersey from him. During the race in Italy, the communist Palmiro Togliatti seriously injured in a bombing. The crowds of protesters invaded the streets of Italian cities, but violence was not uncommon either. Alcide de Gaspari, one of the Italian Christian Democratic Party tisztégviselője Bartalit called me and told me what was happening at home and asked her to win a stage of the Tour, if it calms things down in the streets. Bartali replied that you can do better than that, you will win the whole competition. The complex was still competing Bartal Tendons drawback was 20 minutes, but 26 minutes in Paris has advantages in the first place. The Italians, of course, thrilled watching the happenings of the Tour, and a marked reduction in Italy's political unrest. Many people believed in the future, that Bartali was saved by Italy in the civil war. Gino Bartali in 1954, finished his racing career. 2000th He died on May 5. [IMG][/IMG]

http://www.teladoiofirenze.it/firenz...salvo-litalia/ "This is all wrong, the whole is to be redone." Do you remember how, in the Florentine tight, Gino Bartali was usually lost apostrophe every stage of his career? Today, probably, would not have uttered the now famous refrain: it comes from the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, the posthumous award for the most awaited national Ginettaccio, the Righteous Among the Nations. If I think of Gino Bartali , I guess somewhere grumbling about the distortions and contradictions of our times and maybe on the metamorphosis of the global center of Florence. And, do not reveal too much, proud of the World Cup going on in town. Bartali was above all this: the quintessence of the Florentine spirit, embodied in a physical by Italian cheerful . He was a collector of hope in dark times, rich in uncertainties and tragedies like of expectations. Gino Bartali Florence A Florentine grew up riding through the countryside of Ponte a Ema, in a historical period when the racial laws were enacted, which has constantly fought over a boundless career: keeping your lower back on the climbs and the dead-straight back on their ideals. A simple man, blood, blunt, from sharp words and never banal: a worthy rappresantante malapartiano of the people, the one with the mouth of hell and paradise in the eyes. A cyclist formidable, with its businesses pregnant with sweat and pain along the Alpine slopes and roughness of the Pyrenees. A trophy envy of anyone, at a time when the word did not exist doping and cycling rhymed with sacrifice, passion and businesses to limit the heroic. Times brutal: punctuated by raids, by summary executions, the GIL , the Blackshirts and daily bombings. Times when the Ginettaccio and mounted his bicycle, creating a personal tour that took him to save more than 600 lives : turning with false documents hidden inside the frame of your bike, covering the whole of Tuscany, and much of 'Umbria for two years. never not stopping . Taking advantage of its privileged position of the sample in favor of the other, of the last. Gino Bartali tiles "I do not expect," said Gino's wife Adriana. "Do not wait for me, because I'm late." Where are you going?, Asked Adriana. And he said: "To make a long ť, Which in slang means a workout on the distance. Or: "To find a friend." In these few lines is enclosed in the thickness of a human Florentine of yesteryear . That has succeeded in bigger: to transcend sports, becoming an essential protagonist of the daily life of an entire nation and the people of cycling, by definition, no territorial restrictions. And then the end of the conflict. On the one hand, and on the other Coppi Bartali: Italy of Don Camillo and Peppone , only that sets this biography in black and white on two routes were the dusty roads winding of Italy in the rubble that still did not know which fork historical take. And finally, the 1948 Tour de France and an Italy on the brink of collapse with the attack on civil Togliatti and unrest, the dead in the streets. The call of De Gasperi Ginettaccio: exponent and interpreter of dreams shore of moderate Catholic nation. And what Bartali combined the next day, is history. sporting legend . Gino Bartali Tour de France The French s'incazzano , that the balls still running. Vince for posting two grueling Tappone: fly alone, free sull'Izoard. A climb inhumane. In Italy, the news comes in the afternoon and manifestations, as if by magic, they turn into festive parades. Bartali, with that nose sad as a climb, he saved Italy? Maybe yes, maybe it went really well: a fable sports carved in the calves and the front of the Pieux Gino the Pious, as the French apostrofavano snobs. Or maybe it was just another company a fiorentinaccio today that reflects the heritage of a life uphill, between unexplored and unreachable heights acts of humanity. I do not know. But what is certain is that with the World Championships in full swing, this Florence seems to have found a more humane, livable. As we celebrate Gino Bartali, in a silence that I could not describe. http://lagazzettadellabici.wordpress...ized/page/139/

One of my favorite threads. Too bad I rarely get to look at it since most of my viewing of this site is done from my phone which takes way to long to load all of these photos, but when I do get a chance it's worth the wait. Thanks
