Picture is after finishing the Rhode PDX in 2012- 47 miles and 8,000 feet of climbing all in Portland city limits

True

I skipped swim practice in high school, rode my Schwinn Varsity up Old Big Basin Way with another swimming buddy. We told the coach we forgot practice. He knew we were lying I'm sure.

I took a 60 foot whipper climbing in Yosemite and because of dumb luck and a great belayer I was uninjured. I became a LOT more cautious after that.

* real name - Peter Stock
* where do you live? - Toronto, Canada
* explanation of your handle - lack of imagination.
* explanation of your avatar - Ditto
* age (general or specific) - 56 (really!? oh oh)
* occupation - Director of Hosted Cycling, European villa cycling vacations
* favorite bike - ooohhh, that's tough. depends on the day but... well let's say This Month it has been a Basso Fior di Lotto with 8S Dura Ace.

* what's in your stable? - Merckx Titanium, Basso, Masi TEAM 3V, Ron Spencer (UK shop brand) in Reynolds 531, Claude Pottie (French artisan) in 753, Claude Pottie in Columbus, Fuso FRX #1643, Fuso FRX #2181 (60cm for when I start to shrink), Cyclops in Columbus, Raleigh Competition, Pinarello Prince, Serotta CXII (pending build), Green Gear AirFriday. (and we have no garage, so no wonder partner Julie is getting annoyed)

* fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? - I don't have computers on most bikes
* how many miles ON THE ROAD on a road bike last year? - no clue. (see no computer note above) but not bad. I'd guess... 150km per week x 40 weeks? plus commuting. so, like 5000km/3000miles?
* picture of yourself or your ride? see attached. Hard to discern but that's the AirFriday folder my friend Steve forced me to buy for myself for my 40th birthday. Great bike. I road it with its suitcase trailer across Europe in 2006, credit card camping from Nice to Amsterdam. Now THAT was fun. Those pictures were taken during a trip to Mougins, France in about... 2011 or so. And Yes, I do wear a helmet. I doffed it for those photos.

* what's the "plan" for 2014? no great plans. just get out as often as I can. Oh, and... Thin out the fleet. Especially the ones that don't even fit me. though I would like to get out and do another "campaign" like the 2006 trip. Only Julie is not that keen on bike touring.

* what is the biggest lie you've ever told? "No, Julie, I promise. That's IT. No More Bikes. That's It."

* and, something fun: more lies. "But that one wasn't mine. That was for Ian (my brother). But it turned out too big for him." or "New? new? Nahhh, I've had that one for years. You just never saw it before...."

* Make up a new question. Not sure if this is new but... "how and when did you get into cycling?" glad you asked. Later in life actually, in my 30s I moved to rural France and, so, living in the middle of the worlds most made-for-road-riding country, it just seemed stupid to NOT take up cycling. I bought a 2nd hand bike, and found that rolling out of my front door directly onto the quiet backroads of Provence was something that really really agreed with me. I only wish I had found cycling in my teens instead of in my 30s.
