Ergonomics

A bunch of great info in this thread. I’m on the verge of picking up Ekar for a frame I will be building. I’m currently running GRX Di2 and the ergos are great.

Has anyone with GRX experience spent a good amount of time on Ekar? If so, what do you think?

Thanks

Measurement on Ekar Chain
- Narrow Link: 1.74mm
- Wide Link: 3.38mm

So, it is confirmed that Ekar Chain will not fit into 12 speed 1x ring.

Well that's a bummer! because I also was hoping to run a Rotor 12s ring on a Rotor crank. Last option (I'm not going to start shaving chainrings like you!) is to see if a 12s chain will work on the 13s Ekar cassette. Do you have a way of checking that?

It won't run on a 1x, don't mean it won't run on a 2x chainring though.

Does this picture show the wrong narrow-wide engagement? (It must be too early in the morning for me.)

No, it's correct. Outer plates over the wide teeth.

While you're measuring. How about the width across the inner plates, right over the pin holes. That tells how wide a quick link needs to be, to produce the normal .1-.2mm clearance. Width a across the outer plates would also be valuable information.

it's probably mentioned somewhere in this thread, but where is this stuff, the hardware not the soft goods being produced? coming out of italy or romania or elsewhere?

This group seems wildly popular and mostly sold out with some sporadic exceptions everywhere. i gather that's a combination of new hot product, limited production capability and general supply chain shortages at the moment caused by the pandemic.

i hope they can sort through that reasonably quickly and get stock levels somewhere near normal, but realistically, i bet we're a year out from any supply chain normalcy, at least.

I've got a yet-to-be installed Ekar group and was hoping to go full Ekar 1x13, just with Rotor cranks/rings. Since we know conclusively that the 13s chain won't work with Rotor rings, there's only one last option which would be to hope that it could work [even imperfectly] with an Ekar cassette. I know, I'm grasping.

did i miss it? why would this be? a wider chain should work with the ekar rings, no? what leads you to believe that?

Campagnolo owns almost a dozen factories around the world. Depending on the pieces, it will be mostly Italy or Romania. I believe the breakdown is like this:
cranks- Italy
BB- Italy
levers/calipers- Taiwan
cassette- Italy
chain- Italy
rear derailleur- Italy
rotors- Romania

I know the crank, bb, levers/calipers and chain are correct. I can see it on the boxes in a pic I have. I can't see the others but I believe that's the breakdown from what I remember.

Ooops, I mistakenly reversed it. Yes, a 13s chain won't work with 12s Rotor rings. Corrected my post.
