It's a standard 2011 team bike. The Planet-X brakes make it easy to mount 30s (maybe 32s). As you can tell, they clear with ease (and at every point including fork and chainstays). The ride is like butter.

A friend did have track bike tight clearance with Campy skeleton brakes and the same rims and tires (Challenge PR). He didn't want to risk a rock causing havoc so he stuck with 25s (which measured 27.5).

Thanks for the explanation. Man, I might have to check that out. If only the bottom bracket drop in large sizes were a little more in the 70-72mm range. Nonetheless, it sounds like they might be a great all-around "normal" road bike.

Sweet. Building one now with ENVE CX fork with fender eyelets and paint by Parlee. Did you replace the Parabox? Which brakes are you running now?

TRP Spyres. I put the black carbon arm from the SLC version on the standard black Spyre body for extra murderness. "None more black". Considered HY/RDs as well, which I have on my Kirk, but these actually work pretty darn well. I like 'em better than BB7s.

Sold my Volagi Viaje, which is soon to be replaced with an Ellis Strada Fango.

Weisan-pal, this is one of my favorite threads too!
But, while I take nothing away from Angry Scientist (or his bikes), Geoff is the thread starter.
Geoff, what is the status of your gravel grinder?

You mean to tell me Waterford doesn't offer a disk fork for their own frames?

At the time they weren't. I believe they are now. If you look at the current Gunnar forks, the dropouts (not inverted) and disc tab (hollowed out) are a little different than the current Vicious offering. BUT...still unicrown with really fat blades. Just not my cup of tea.

Gravel Bike

Here is my gravel bike (finally). I bought it as an experiment to see where I wanted to go with gravel bikes.
Even though it is a cross bike it rides so well on the dirt and road that I am having a hard time seeing how I could get a better bike for my purposes.
This photo is just after a 105k ride with 2 long dirt climbs.

I thought I was going to go with a stock offering (and may still), but may be posting something very cool (custom for me) soon. I plan on doing multiple events in 2015, so I need to get it moving quickly.
