...that rant post, which was in response to Huang's impartiality, sure seems like a 180 from what you intended then. |

Why has he been at many different places in the past few years?

to find a place that pays commensurate with experience I'd guess is pretty tough.

He was at Bikeradar for 10+ years, Cyclingtips for 7+ years. Then Outside began dismantling Cyclingtips, and he left to join Escape Collective, which was made up mostly of people who had been fired from CyclingTips. He was there a little more than a year, but I guess it wasn't a great fit.
But he certainly doesn't have a track record of rapid job-hopping.

He was with Bike Radar for 11 years then moved to CyclingTips and worked there for almost 8 years until it basically ceased to exist. His time at Escape Collective was a 1.5 years, so yeah that one was short.
But I wouldn't say he has been at many different places these last few years. It's really just 1 short term time, and that was due to his prior place going to hell. |

So 3 places in the same amount of years.

IIRC, when he joined Escape Collective he said it was a transitionary thing for him..

If you look at it without context, are unable to understand the reality that your situation inherently happens when a job last a short while, and count the job that he just announced as one of your places...then yeah he has been at many different places these last few years.

I haven’t payed close attention to most cycling media since the time he left Bike Radar/Cyclingnews. I found it odd that he has been shuffling around. |

To bring this back on topic:
I'm trying to better understand how this Substack platform actually works. If I understand it correctly, people can subscribe to an author's Substack (paid or otherwise) and then they receive content, but how? Is it emailed? Do I need to log into Substack where I have access to the content I have subscribed to? Is this just basically a paid email list? I'm sure I'm missing something, but seems a little clunky and less streamlined than more traditional digital media?

- Two people responded with context to show he actually hasn't bounced around over his career or even recently, and that one single job was for a short time period. - You responded by confirming your initial comment and saying 3 jobs in 3 years. Yeah, my subsequent post to that could be viewed as argumentative and belittling since you ignored the additional information and reaffirmed your narrative. It seems there are a couple posters who admit they have no info on this topic, but are more than happy to voice the narratives they have created or the biases they have. My bad for pusj9ng back on that ignorance- I will try to let the thread be. |

It's fair to say it's clunkier than traditional media, but people use it because the platform itself handles all the technical details, so a lone writer can operate without needing to hire a web developer.

mstateglfr- my 3 in 3 comment was to reel you in. It was uncalled for and I apologize. When I’m up to see Jeffrey Bock in the near future I’ll be sure to message you so I can apologize in person. If you’re in NorCal area and the same applies.
I added my context so you would maybe understand. |
