GK slick + recommendation
Well - I jinxed myself with my generally good vibes (shared earlier) on GK slicks. Was riding my C50 that is shod with GK slicks (700x26). Loosely-defined “pavement” here in the Alleghenies and there’s some newly laid gravelly stuff here and there as they redo some of the roads. After the somewhat white knuckle descent down Deeter Gap, I was heading back up the Front on one of my favorite roads, and I realized I had a bit more “give” in the rear - sure enough the tire was going flat. As I changed the tube, I saw that a staple of some kind had pierced the rubber and poked a hole in the tube (slow leak). I had to get the metal piece out and had to resort to using my teeth which luckily worked! Which leads me to my recommendation (and I’m sure the more experienced of you do this already): ride with a pair of tweezers (or a Leatherman) to get errant metal shards out (in full fairness, I don’t think ANY tire would have prevented this from happening.
