That's a lot of money for a hub motor e-bike.

Call me nostalgic but I was hoping for a carbon road bike with some Team Z colors.

I would like to know more about the specific carbon as Lemond and his company seemed to be investing a lot in R&D for a lower manufacturing cost process. It could just be that they are vertically integrated and creating a brand with a variety of parts and bikes?

That’s a pretty wack looking e-bike.

I’m not e-bike hater. I would love to have an e-bike instead of driving to get to town.

I’ve been trying to convince my girlfriend that we need an electric mtb so she can keep up with me when I ride dirt and I can ride the e-bike to town for errands. Win win

Those might be the smartest bikes LeMond has ever come up with. They are the Shinola for those not interested in nostalgia which is way more people than are interested in a Shinola IMO.

Forgoing a mid-drive system for the wheel keeps its design ethos throughout. Nobody ever looked at a mid-drive e-motor and said....damn that is good looking!

I wish him luck.

It sure is. On the other hand, 27 lb. is pretty light for step-through utility bike with an e-motor.

That's a real good question. But apparently this bike isn't using the new carbon technology he has been investing in. From an article about this bike on Bicycle Retailer:

Quote:
The bikes are made in Asia. While LeMond's company was intimately involved in their development, the frames do not currently use carbon manufactured using his company's proprietary technology. That may come later. LeMond said by next year he hopes to have manufacturing set up in Europe and the U.S. “We want to manufacture close to the markets to keep the supply chain tighter and build on demand,” he said.

No rack mounts! Seems to limit the usefulness for a "City Bike"

Lemond and Sons are masters of hype and marketing.

Those that would buy a race bike from Le Mond already have a race bike, probably three race bikes.
His company seems to be serious about being successfull.

Not hard for them to place some mounts in the production runs.

That's a really astute take on it. My first thought was "where's the road bike?" But the psychology of road bikes is complex and maybe the time that the name LeMond carried enough cache for it to be chosen over Pinarello/Specialized/Custom has passed.

But--if someone is thinking about an eBike, well Greg won the Tour, and if it's his eBike maybe it's not so bad.

And then someone probably rides one and has fun and there you go.

I hope they succeed.

Current plan is actually to launch the road bike in November, and a gravel bike thereafter. Reported on BRAIN. I think most of the other reporting hasn't picked this up.
