But ultimately, I think it's less important that the reviewer be unbiased than the reviewer be informative. I tend to look at bike reviews the same way I look at other pieces of opinion journalism, with two key questions. 1) did the writer demonstrate that he or she had done any meaningful research in putting the piece together? 2) even if I don't agree with the opinion, did I still learn something?

If I can answer yes to both of those questions, it's worth my time, even with any biases.
Agree with this. Any (I mean any) journalism has to be read with the understanding that it contains biases. The reader has to choose what parts are valuable and disregard the rest.

...that rant post, which was in response to Huang's impartiality, sure seems like a 180 from what you intended then.

to find a place that pays commensurate with experience I'd guess is pretty tough.

He was at Bikeradar for 10+ years, Cyclingtips for 7+ years. Then Outside began dismantling Cyclingtips, and he left to join Escape Collective, which was made up mostly of people who had been fired from CyclingTips. He was there a little more than a year, but I guess it wasn't a great fit.

But he certainly doesn't have a track record of rapid job-hopping.

He was with Bike Radar for 11 years then moved to CyclingTips and worked there for almost 8 years until it basically ceased to exist. His time at Escape Collective was a 1.5 years, so yeah that one was short.

But I wouldn't say he has been at many different places these last few years. It's really just 1 short term time, and that was due to his prior place going to hell.

If you look at it without context, are unable to understand the reality that your situation inherently happens when a job last a short while, and count the job that he just announced as one of your places...then yeah he has been at many different places these last few years.
