I've had this impulse purchase around a while now and think I'm on the cusp possibly maybe of finally building it up as a silly thing to ride around town.

Quite an odd bird this Pinarello: Freuler geometry, aero downtube shifter bosses, internal shift cable routing. It has the rear dropouts of Pegoretti built Banesto and Maxim models and a similar seat-lug too. Yet it's fully lugged unlike those tig-welded models.

Big fan of the shape of the dropouts which seem ahead of their time with those sharp angled lines.

Glued up my first set of tubs this weekend (Veloflex Protour 25s). I don't regret going with the gumwalls over black. In my ham-handedness with my first attempt I got some mastik on the sidewall of the rear tire, but thankfully it's not super visible and I did a much neater job with the front. Gave 'em a test ride yesterday and there were no wobbles or hops or anything, just smooth blissful riding, so I'll give myself a passing grade on the glue job. Even a slight improvement versus Corsa G+ 25 clinchers (which are really ~28) with latex tubes on HED Ardennes+ which are no slouches in the ride quality department.

One of these days I'll get up the nerve to trim the steerer tube.

Nice -- gumwalls are a great choice with that frame.

In the hole....

The Steelman Eurocross is on deck. This is in the hole, but may leap ahead in the rotation.

Specialized Compression Plug

Anyone ever dealt with these? This is what I found installed in a frameset I just bought, but it doesn't have the internal bolt that makes it functional. I ended up just ordering a whole new identical compression plug and will harvest that bolt. I watched a youtube video on how to remove the plug and it all hinges on using the bolt that is supposed to be included with the headset. Frustrating.

Removing the expander does not require the bolt.

I have that compression plug on a lot of my bikes. Holds really well.

It's something of a kerfuffle to get them out, but how often do you really need to do that?!

I get em online because I don't work for an SBC dealer. ?AVT? I think is the site.

Thank you for that detailed image that's super helpful! I will only take it out to potentially cut off more of the steerer. The one I ordered will mainly be for the bolt to make use of what's already in place.

After my last King Cage failed at the welds on my wife's bike a few months ago, I contacted the company and they hooked me up with a discounted replacement!

Good as new

Never seen that happen before, good to see they fixed you up, you must ride a lot of rough stuff or carry heavy H2O!

The cage was loose (bottle was rattling) so I tried to bend it a bit so it would fit tighter
