From that pic, the fact that Elvis Costello is now playing to bald headed or grey haired old guys and audiences who keep pindrop quiet means.....I'm getting old too!

Best of all, a mature audience who kept it absolutely dead silent during the acoustic tunes allowing his voice and deft guitar work to be heard. Plus he was hilarious with his stories all night. Played and hour 20' and then two encore sets, nine songs. During Allison, he left the stage walked up my aisle and sat in the seat in front of me and played part of the song.

white stipes

On the tail end of a 50 miler and coming out of a hill and pushing hard into the next curve the lyric "i'm going to witchitha far from this opera for evermore..". just pops into my head. The last miles of the ride, i cant get that entire riff out of my head. So the weekend has been obsessed with Jack White, who BTW took his wife's name, and some really great music.

Here is what kicked it off-

Old Fairport Convention and Bob Dylan

From the first Fairport Convention album, the haunting One Sure Thing.

And Bob Dylan's questioning of reality in Red River Shore on Tell Tale Signs.

Leonard's latest. I listened to it 3 times through after it was released -- I mean right after, at midnight.

An unqualified masterpiece.
