Morning ride....new (to me) bike.....
So, received the Seven 622 SLX from Clean last week...did some minor assembly...found an old Flite saddle and took it out for inaugural ride yesterday.
6:00 AM start...35 degrees...no wind...ride was 42 miles north, thru Kirkland, to Sammamish Valley, up to Woodinville, along Burke-Gilman to UW, cross 520 Bridge, thru Medina along Evergreen Point Rd ("Billionaire Blvd") and then home. Firsts: Carbon (mostly) frame bike, sloping top tube, carbon wheels, compact gearing, 30mm wide tires (rode 23's up until this past August). Impressions - smooth...too many changes to narrow down, but it is a very comfortable ride. So much less road buzz than my other bikes. It is also a super light bike (well, for me).....15.6 lbs with saddle and pedals. The Vision KOM wheels are really nice! Spin up fast, quiet braking, solid on descents and corning...all good stuff! Not especially aero I suppose, but similar profile as my Eurus. The Shimano shifting took awhile to get used to since I've been doing Campy for the past 17 years. Drivetrain needs some tuning but seems to work just fine. Doesn't have the same "feel" as Campy, but seems to work. I'll tune the shifting and give it some more time.... Why didn't anyone tell me about this compact gearing stuff? I felt like I had mountain bike gearing on some of the (few) steeper hills! Ride - Cold! It was 35 at my house when I left, but pretty sure it was at or below freezing out in the valley....water bottles froze up. Saw a bobcat cross the road in front of me heading up into Houghton from Carillon Point (Kirkland). Also saw an eagle grab a salmon from the Sammamish River (slough) up in Bothell, and a four point buck just off the road in Medina! I didn't set any PRs on Strava on my ride as I was just taking it out to get a feel for it. Once I get it all tuned up it will definitely be a favorite! Picture is from Sammamish Valley looking south.....was hoping Mt. Rainier was visible, but was in clouds all morning....

After the roads in Yellowstone close to vehicle traffic for the season, there is a very fleeting time span when biking is still allowed in the Park. Empty roads, except for the occasional official vehicle. Last Friday was beautiful and probably the last day for biking in the Park considering the snow we had over the weekend. 11 degrees this morning.

Incredible 74 degrees today here. Crazy warm for this time of year. Did 33 miles on the Moots. Just love this bike, especially with the new decals!
