^That's a nice shot. The bike looks nice and clear and love the idea of pedaling up the road and heading into the blurry future.

Took the old Nashbar touring bike down in low country South Carolina last week for some road and trail riding.

Rides a few weeks ago . . .

. . . that I hadn't got a chance to post yet. I was lucky enough to be able to spend two days combining my two favorite pursuits: riding my bike and pursuing beautiful images with my camera. I spent those two days riding the carriage roads at Minnewaska State Park atop the Shawangunk ridge on the west side of the Hudson River near my home in upstate New York.

For those of you who have never been there, the “Gunks,” as they are called, are an area that is unique in both geology and biology, sandwiched between the Catskill Mountains to the west and the Hudson valley to the east. A number of rain fed “glacier lakes” on top of the ridge feed some of the most scenic streams and waterfalls you will find anywhere.

Over the past 150 years, a variety of private resorts have come and gone atop the ridge, and today the Minnewaska State Park, the (private nonprofit run) Mohonk Preserve, and Sam’s Point Preserve protect this sensitive and beautiful area from further development. The different resorts built a series of carriage roads along the ridge that provide some spectacular cycling, especially in the fall when the colors are usually mind-blowing.

Most of these photos are from along those trails, where I rode my gravel bike and carried my Nikon D7500 clipped to my backpack that contained my extra lenses. I also have a small pocket tripod in there and some neutral density filters to be able to shoot long exposures of the streams and waterfalls.

It was a couple of weekdays, so I pretty much had the place to myself, though as the day progressed I saw more people, especially cyclists. I also parked down the hill on the west side and rode my bike up a rather unorthodox route that shall remain confidential, so I had about 1.5 miles of hike-a-bike through the woods. But that just provided some additional unusual spots for photos.

It’s almost impossible to shoot a bad photo here, and I’m so lucky to both have the Gunks so close to my home and to have the time to go explore them.

New York certainly is a beautiful state as this thread shows. I miss the Autumn in New England. This year was pretty good in Virginia but there is nothing like it up there.

Swapped wheels between the Chebacco and Warbird to see how they performed on the snow covered dirt roads.

as far as rides go

... it wasn't too much to talk about- about 10 miles and 35 minutes. And I didn't have the chance to put on my new titanium stem, spacers and seat post for the bike's new look. BUT it was my first ride after Artery Bypass surgery 10 weeks ago. A couple of pictures of this sweet ride.

After a couple of weeks of cold and snow, it felt like a real "Scorcher" out there today
