Wow! That looks beautiful. What kind of bike does one ride there (gravel, mountain, etc.)?

This is what I rode yesterday. It is a series of carriage/gravel roads through the park. You could ride whatever you are comfortable on for the most part. Smallest tire I have ridden it in the past is a 32mm, but I think this bike is my ideal setup for riding Minnewaska. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great- masters events
Great styling of the photo. Makes me wonder if "masters" tour events would attract any attention if they were ridden on a tour stage well in advance. I digress - great photo.

Nice ride with @R3 going up up up and then down down down. Peekamoose Rd? South to North (towards Ashokan Reservoir) is a nice gradual climb, but the other direction has a climb that kicked my butt (>15% grade). Judging from that warning sign, looks like you did it the easy way! |

Wide shoulders. Smooth tarmac. Blue skies. Mid-60s in mid-Oct.... Everybody liked that.

i think yes that's right - and yes we went up the gentle side - but this was climb 3, and by far the easiest of the ride!

Sorry more of you couldn't join us yesterday . . .
. . . at Minnewaska.
The four of us met at 9am right when the park opened on this Sunday morning, so no problems with parking. There was me, hilltopperNY (in dark blue), CNYrider (in Good Guy white), and my friend Eric (in red) who is not on the forum. The foliage was definitely past peak in most spots, but there were still a lot of nice beauty and images. It was crowded around the visitor center, but once we got away from there it was much better. CNY had to stop for a new tube to fix a slow leak, but otherwise all went great except for having to shout "Passing left!" so many times close to the visitor center! But whoa, what a difference from a weekday! When we finished up about 3pm the place was overrun! Cars everywhere, parked on top of and around everything! I've never seen so many people there and was glad we were leaving to head over to Yard Owl Brewery in Wallkill for a post-ride celebratory toast. BBD
