Valve stems are different lengths. Unforgivable.

Nope! According to some here TPC sells truckloads of bikes daily and are doing the lords work.

I hope they survive. They might not fit the typical ‘used bike bargain’ paradigm, but as sellers of certified refurbished warrantied (their warranty) high end bikes, I think they have a place—especially as a local bike shop megalopolis.
I’ve sold several bikes to them in the past couple of years, for myself and for customers who wanted to upgrade with me, and their offers were usually reasonable and the transactions were smooth. |

I guess selling used bikes at higher than the MSRP of new bikes does not work. Whowoodathunkit?
Sorry for the snark, I could not help it. EDIT: But here is serious question for the forum regarding TPC pricing: Below is an example of an used Enve Custom bike sold by TPC for $10,500. The MSRP for the new bike according to TPC is $12,500. So, the used bike is offerred at a 16% discount. Now, I would never bike this bike used just to save $2000. I would rather spend the extra $2000, get the new bike, and the peace of mind that comes with Enve's warranty. Or maybe I am in the minority and people would buy this bike at 16% off? Would you? I just read the article: a $60mm local bike shop. Not bad.
Seriously though:Anyone else here build a $60mm company? Anyone? Last edited by BobbyJones; 01-20-2023 at 07:34 PM. |

as a point of interest, I received a call from TPC the other day to see if I was in the market to buy a bike.. I guess they probably had my number from when I inquired to see if they were interested in my CAAD10 (they weren't).. they guy offered me $50 off a bike.. interesting and a bit surprising..

Desperate times call for desperate measures, although $50 off seems a bit weak.

Change your last name to DuPont...and start with $120 million

Biz is biz. Times are tough. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive Just like a zillion other companies that over spent and over staffed based on projections that are wilting, they’re following the playbook. Been there myself, and it is NOT pretty. More than a few sleepless nights when going thru a downsizing. Regardless, would like to see them survive. Different niche, alternative selling channel, always good to have those around. |

Yea, times are tough, facing headwinds that "maybe" were hard to predict, but not really. Anyone who thought that the good times would roll forever maybe should not have been hired until more than 4 years out of grad school.
But this is redic: https://www.theproscloset.com/produc...s-works-crux-m An 8 year old bike with completely outdated standards with middling build kit? They are overpriced by 2x. I understand a premium from TPC compared to ebay prices, but maybe 20% more, not 100% more. I agree there is a place for a business like this. A nice easy button for both buyers and sellers where they might not get the best deal, but benefit from convenience and confidence is great. But someone lost the plot here. |

Scratched skewers, qr, post mount and a new FSA chain?
