I've been experimenting with my bikepacking setups recently. The Crosscheck is faster on pavement/gravel but suffers a bit on singletrack. The Wednesday is killer on singletrack and gravel, but suffers a bit on pavement. As singlespeed, I can only spin 15.5mph average. I'm about to put the Wednesday back in fatbike mode and put gears back on, so we'll try it again then.

Oh man this brings back memories from my time at West Point. "Bridge to bridge" was a standard ride. Great shot of 218 (I think)

Nice! That shot from me was last week overlooking the Blackwater Canyon. Thereâs some great gravel (and Singletrack) out that way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Ride this past Sunday with DJG21 and AngryScientist
Day two of my three-day Adirondack cycling trip last weekend took me to the camp of DJG21 on the beautiful shores of Lake Champlain to ride with him and AngryScientist. This is the far northeast corner of the Adirondacks, where the granite cliffs of the âDacks loom over the sparkling blue waters of Lake Champlain.
Our 42-mile ride took us through many an open meadow, through forests, and over some pretty tough climbs. Highland Road in particular had some steep slopesâincluding one 15% stretchâbut also some of the most stunning views out across the lake toward Vermont. Particularly thrilling was the sight of DJG21 winning the prime sprintâagainst a tractor! We also made a stop to see what we could of the Ausable Chasm, where the Ausable river plunges down toward Champlain. The canyon itself is private property and you have to pay to go down there, so we satisfied ourselves with what we could see from the route 9 highway bridge. But it was still an awe-inspiring sight and triggered a true chasmgasm! We also rode by Ausable Brewing, home of some allegedly very good post-ride recovery drinks. We headed back there after the ride to see if they lived up to their reputation (they did!) and also sample the wares from the food truck vendor. DJGâs friends Fanny and Dax accompanied us to the brewery. It was a hot day to ride, and the sun made for some pretty high contrast photos, but I think we saw the best of the local countryside!

Always love seeing your snaps, Dave. Fun surprise to come across them over on that Facebook thing, too.

Fun ride in Vermont this past Sunday . . .
. . . with my friend Evan out of the village of Brandon. It's at the base of the Green Mountains, so spectacular scenery. We didn't tackle Brandon Gap, though!

Also got a fun ride in yesterday . . .
. . . in the midst of the storm. It was just me and my buddy Isaias out on the local bike trail in a brisk breeze.
