I cut down a new Thomson Masterpiece seat post. My local shop only had a long version, so I cut it to the shorter length. I used a pipe-cutter to avoid deforming the thin tube. My goal wasn't really saving weight, but rather to reduce the surface area between the aluminium and steel frame to hopefully avoid getting too much oxidization.

While I had the cutting tools out, I shortened the steer-tube on my fork. I have only had this fork for 6 or 7 years, but now I don't have any spacers above the stem.

After being hit by a car a few years ago and more recently crashing pretty badly on a descent (required an air-ambulance), my friend is now having trouble riding with dropbars. Experimenting with converting her Di2 Salsa Warbird to a flat(ish) bar setup. First time setting up Di2 mtb shifters with a road drivetrain. Plug and play!

Test fitting--stem, bars , seatpost and seat--I think it is going to work!

(Bars courtesy of Clean39; frame from Virtual Elvis and a couple of new bits and a couple of old bits...)

Cousin printed me some parts, including a roof rack end cap and a brompton bag mount. Color me impressed!

I've got a front wheel in the stand that still isn't done after 4+ hours of futzing with it

You'd think that a 28h 2x front wheel wouldn't be an issue, but this wheel's been giving me fits.

Get it close and stress relieve it and I get a big ole weave

Fix that and re stress relieve and I get a big ole weave the other way

Fix that and it's out of round

Fix that and stress relieve again and I got the weave back

Repeat ad nauseum

It's close enough to ride, but it ain't right, so I'll keep after it tomorrow

M

... set on the kitchen breadboard. I can't believe the whole thing has not tumbled down.

This was in the workstand earlier in the week. Got it on the road and now it's in the White Bikes Thread.

Always lusted after Wiltons. Finally scooped one up off of eBay over the summer at a killer price. Only a 3.5", so perfect size for the kind of bike work I'm doing.

It's a sturdy breadboard! Although, with all the oil spillage on it, not very bread sanitary anymore...

I like the red headset on it. Green tires give it that classics look.
