Solo century to start the summer

100+ in northern MD/southern PA.
The roads - and grades - around here are positively Ardennes-like.
All up and down. Warm. Steep. Hilly. Occasionally wet, and generally positively spectacular.
I've ridden in a lot of places.
Sometimes the best stuff is just out your back door!

You’re welcome. It’s more typical to see them as road kill but a bit unusual to see a live one. Of course I was in its habitat where some industrious human built a MTB trail. It seemed a bit oblivious of me though. Apparently their eyesight is not very good.

Nice! Would love to know where this pic was taken since you must be near my neck of the woods.

Eastern Oregon has a wonderful beauty to it. Did a great Oregon Scenic Bikeway ride on Saturday - The Blue Mountain scenic century. Lucky for us the weather was fairly cool and we even had a bit of rain. It gets pretty exposed out there and that sun would have been roasting us.

Didn't have a car pass us during the final 40 miles!

Hells Canyon seems like it would be immaculate.

Photo taken on Pocock Road (northern Balto. County) - a little east of Monkton. I was on my way up to the PA state line via the Prettyboy Reservoir.

It's always beautiful on top of the Croton Dam, but damn! the spillway is awfully dry. Not much rain lately. Wonder if we'll be having a draught summer.

caught the sunrise on Mt Tam. It is misting, gray, and 12F colder below the clouds. But above it is A-ok.

Short ride around the State Forest, then picking up packages at the PO, then home via singletrack. Litespeed dropbar conversion perfect for the job.

I'm no Derek Zoolander, but here's my version of 'blue steel'.
The rear wheel is sitting in LA county and the front in Ventura county. With fresh smooth pavement for its entirety, this is one of the nicest climbs in the Santa Monica mountains.

nice. i've done that one myself!

i'm getting thirsty looking at how exposed that section of road is and the single water bottle though!

Believe me, Nick, it's completely different now that the road surface isn't a nightmare (they repaved the upper section after the fires, but only finished the lower 3 miles in the past month). I think I only encountered about 15 vehicles on it yesterday.

Fortunately, there's a water stop at the base of the climb and another just a short distance down the hill. And June gloom means that it wasn't that sunny for a good portion of the climb.

This is a view looking out towards the racetrack in Del Mar. It is an angle that most people don’t see.
