I like Jesse Marsch & think he would make a great USMNT some time in the future. His time at Leeds definitely damaged his reputation (and I think showed some of his tactical shortcomings). That he is enjoying success with Canada is great -- I hope it continues.
Having said that, hiring Poch pulls an outsider to manage the USMNT -- and that is what they need right now.

I would say that he should do better at a club system where he'll have more time to institute his way of playing. He just wasn't right for USMNT from the get go despite some positives.

For those familiar with his tenure at Spurs, not much more additional info, but a good intro to those not familiar with him. There's also the issue of him steering Chelsea in the right direction but was fired before things could fully play out. |
