My butt appreciates the (heated) cloth seats when it's bitter cold.

I do miss the heated outside mirrors that I had with my old Audi, and also the fog lights and turn lighting not included in the base lights package.

I'd buy another.
My -17 'S', 4 motion, with DSG tranny has heated outside mirrors..(?)

And, I think the seats look and 'feel' fine..black..maybe in a lighter color not good lookin' but black..OK by me.

Not true. The Golf R has leather seats, and a couple of years ago there was a top spec Golf that had leather seats; so too do the 2019 GTI SE and Autobahn Editions. (That's not meant to be a complete list, by the way; there may be other top spec models with leather seats that I'm not aware of.)

Has been done a few times. People have put the plaid GTI seats (I think they look no good and dated but people love them, they are much better seats, even in cloth) in the SW.

Why I said AFAIK. And a little researchj

Cloth: Jetta, Passat, Beetle, Golf, Golf GTI, e-Golf, Golf SportWagen

Leatherette: Jetta, Passat, CC, Beetle, Golf, e-Golf, Tiguan,Touareg, Golf SportWagen, Beetle Convertible, Eos

Leather: CC, Touareg, Passat, Golf GTI, Golf R, Tiguan

It makes sense really, VW does not want to sell $50000 cars with fake leather. That said the Leatherette is nice

My 2018 Tiguan SEL Premium has leather seats. Wish I could have opted for cloth at this trim level. I don’t love leather seats but wanted features only available on that trim level, in particular the LED lighting.

VW NA sucks. In canada you can build your own, Want 6 speed manual, leatherette and lighting package SW, you got it. Here you either get a no options car or you get all options car for $6000 more

It’s not just VW. Most brands limit options for the US market. I really wish we could just order a car from an order sheet, even if it cost a bit more. With today’s technology this should absolutely be possible.

Gone for now

Read a press release that VW is discontinuing the Sportwagen, at least in the US. Pretty much limits non SUV or CUV wagon options.

Well shoot fire.

After almost 2 amazing years of ownership of my 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDI a lady totaled it while parked (for a VERY short time... ugh) on my street.

So now I am in the market again, and specifically the TDI model seems to be rarer than hens teeth around here, but another challenger appears.

2018/19 Buick () Regal TourX

These things seem to be bolted to the ground on dealers lots and they are being sold at a HEAVY discount.

Thought/comments/concerns?

MINI has been doing it for 17 years.

I'm getting ready to order a new Clubman that way once the new JCWs come out.

Seems like an interesting car - an off the beat review from someone who actually owns one - https://jalopnik.com/10-000-miles-ow...ive-1835082720

That Buick is a rebadged Opel. I would probably enjoy driving one but GM has sold the Opel division so parts and service in the USA may become a problem and resale will be in the dumper.

Gotcha. Could always go for GTI with one of those Yakima roof storage compartments.

Sportwagen 30 cu. ft. w/rear seats up, GTI is 23.
