Oh, this one sets a new record! But when there's a lineage of eminent previous owners on the PL's "who's who list", and it has a TK's name on it...you don't hesitate or think, you simply hit the "Buy it Now!" button.

So before me, this bike has gone through the hands of the following after Ray pal released it into the wild in the spring of 2018...

It was sitting in the S&S case for almost two years after my last trip to Asia. And then Clean pal recently contacted me about possibly selling it back to him. At first my response to him was, I won't sell it but I don't mind "loaning" it to you indefinitely and that's what prompted me to take the bike out two days ago and strip it down to bare frame and get it ready to ship off to Clean. His taste for componentry is more modern and higher$$ than me. The bike was equipped with 9s Shimano at the time. After I took everything apart and was able to examine the bike up close again...er....my knees started to knock uncontrollably, and I started to weep....I just couldn't bare to part ways with this incredible machine. I mean, look at the thing! Ray pal had it custom built in 2004 (I think) and it hasn't aged a day! Everything about this bike is so well-thought out...it really is timeless.





Gobs and gobs of tire clearance...easily clear 28-30s, might even do 35!

How is it supposed to hold on and age tough ? Serious question. Shimano are open steel bearings, they will with enough time wear off the titanium axle.

Grade 5 Titanium (Ti6Al4V) is rather strong. I toyed with replacing the Shimano steel 3/16" bearings with titanium for that very reason but I am keeping the old spindles for the day if/when these titanium spindles wear out.

my friend's C59 got the full spa treatment...new chainring, new chain (lubed w Synergetic), new cables and housing, debadged the Mavics of their Cosmic stickers, cleaned, compounded and polished frame, fork, crank, shifters and RD.

Unlacing the wheels and setting it up with a dynamo. Thinking a Lumotec Classic mounted to the front fender strut.

First of all, I am very pleased to see you have a Bob Jackson! Mine was built for me in 1972. It looks as though (may just be the photo angle) that you have a lot if toe overlap on that bike. Is that true, and if so, how does that affect things on the long hard rando rides you do?

TBH, this bike hasn't seen saddle time in well over a decade, and even then I never rode it on anything longer than a Populaire. I think it might have been about 2006 or 2007 and the shopowner received around a dozen Bob Jacksons. I was completely infatuated with Jan Haine's "The Golden Age of Handbuilt Bicycles" and asked if I could build one of them up in the style of the old French rando bikes a la Herse/Singer. It's pretty much been window dressing at the shop since then, but with all the Bob Jackson talk lately, I thought I'd dust it off.

Toe overlap is a SERIOUS issue on this bike. I have to be very mindful when riding it! It took forever to get the rear rack and fender mounted (this was a first gen. Velo Orange stainless rack and I had to cut and drill the tabs!!!) which dictated the fenderlines for the front. There's some wiggle room with the fenders, but because it was for "show", I wanted to keep the fenderlines clean and matching.

2001 Litespeed Tuscany. I was planning on rebuilding with Ultegra 11 speed, but I already have two bikes built with that so I’m doing this one up with Dura Ace 7900. If anyone is interested in a 6500 3x9 groupset, I’ll be selling the one I pulled off this pretty soon.
