ALL-CITYs are visually appealing bikes! Single Speed climbing sounds fun, but only for a few minutes

Good ride today to process through my possible return to civilization.
Lots of excellent baby butt pavement and good mix of gravel (although I misremembered a few roads so was expecting more like 69% gravel). Very rewarding scenery with a mix of nice gravel through the woods and picture perfect hilly Catskills farmscapes.

The most excitement came at around mile 55 on Laird Road when I was pretty gassed and crawling over a hill. A large piece of wood was spray painted “BEWARE VERY LARGE DOGS”. I saw an older women in the lawn and then two VERY LARGE German Shepherds. They seemed uninterested in me and I commented “you weren’t kidding”. Well they did not like that and were incensed and immediately took chase. Nothing like 200 lbs of pure bred killing machine to motivate you for a sprint. 1/2 mile later they were left in the dust and the woman could still be heard yelling and I was just trying to keep myself from throwing up on my handlebars but sure happy to not be dog food.

Awesome pics, Adam. You win the yesterday's green jersey and the dogs are awarded no points.

Black Mountain Cycles Monster Cross Disc. Maybe a little overkill for a "gravel bike" but it does the job extremely well.

Holy crap. I thought this stuff only happened in movies. You know ... “Chopper...sick balls.”

In all sincerity, is “flight” the best scenario in this? I’m not a canine expert. Good to know for future reference...

Gah! I hate being chased by dogs. Happened too often on the roads east of Austin. Lots of big dogs with open fences.

The pics are amazing. If I were you, I'd stay away from civilization until the leaves are done changing.
