Here's mine. It's not the apex of rim brake performance bikes, but I made a few small modifications to this '92 Trek 2300 and it came out exactly the way I wanted it to, so for me it is the apex of what it is. Couldn't resist a purple bike for ~$200 on FB Marketplace, bought it just to cruise around on...but it was so good looking that I wanted to ride it more, and in more places. So a very fancy stem, seat post, new cassette, bar tape, saddle, and some Dura Ace C24 wheels (actually the apex of rim brake wheels, I think!) later...
I had one of these while living NoVA and was damn impressed by it. I left it with a friend … say, you didn’t buy it from Marco did you? Your picture look like Skyline Drive so just curious

Amazing braking power with rear wheel sliding all over the trail when I want to lock it up.

I have a couple of bikes that are close to perfection, for me at least.

My Moots Compact is what actually drew me into the forum. I purchased it from a fellow forumite (noonan) in 2015, and have since put a smidge under 120,000km on it.

I can recall a moment in my childhood being absolutely fascinated by a few Colnagos with the art deco paint, sitting in the window of a local bike shop. It would've been somewhere between 1990 and 1995.

Since getting into riding road, that spawned a thirst for a Colnago and the opportunity came (again from a forumite, jpritchet74) to get my hands on a genuine Rabo Extreme C.

The bike didn't fit quite right, so I caught and released and found myself in love with this EPS. It's not art deco (still need to scratch that itch), but I do love the raw carbon and it is my fast bike for racing.

I actually also have a late model Cervelo S3 on the way to scratch an aero itch that I've had for a few years too, and am excited to get that built up.

While I am beginning to reluctantly concede that my next bike will have disc brakes whether I want them or not, I'm pretty confident that these two rim brake bikes will never be obsolete and never leave my possession until I'm dead:

The bike that I regret selling the most.

Madsciencenow bought it, and he sold it to someone else.
Wish I could get it back.

Maybe not the threads theme, but I'm posting anyway. It's a fun ride!

Both the CAAD3 and the purple Trek get bonus point for coolness and looks. To my eyes anyway.

I bought it from a guy named Kevin Hines, lives in Strasburg. He didn't know much about it. If he was a cyclist, it was of the motor variety. The bike was in *perfect* condition...once I scrubbed the white paint splatters and garage grunge off it. The Ultegra groupset maybe had 100 miles on it, I'd say museum quality. The quill stem it came with was super long -protruded a figurative foot out of the head tube at its shortest, as if someone wanted this to be a cruiser.

So nope, probably not yours, but how did you like yours? Around the net, I see folks calling this bike a noodle and not liking how it rides, but I'm actually really happy with it! The Gravel King 26mm tires and the nice wheels make it nice and smooth, and I dig the good vibrations the bike still transmits. Not nearly the unified, composed, symbiotic experience that riding a top-notch modern bike gives you, but it's good enough and then some, and a blast to ride.
