Dave @ November Bicycles has some updates on the HED Belgium R. The tl;dr seems to be like the Belgium+, but just lighter.

Kinlins are hard to beat. Price + durability. Also been happy with dt R460 and not convinced you'd miss those extra 2 mm. I've never built any of the pricier rims on your list because I'm cheap.

What I will do is keep an eye on the classifieds for sale of good quality rim-brake wheels, the migration from rim to disc is not over yet, more to come at a huge discount!

Bdop has a trio of rims that all look pretty good. I've used the Kinin XC-279 on a build and it's a nice rim.

Right. Remember that MSRP stands for "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price"

Legally, the manufacturers can not mandate the selling price, due to anti-collusion laws. But through a bit of a loophole, they can cut off the supply of product to retailers who disregard the MSRP, if the manufacturers so chose. Some manufacturers do so chose, and some do not.

OP- have you done a lot of these? I’m looking for a replacement to the classic Silver Open Pro. And I’m sure you know it’s hard to find a basic silver w/ msws.

Velocity's newer rims are supposed to be way nicer than those from the early USA days.

Would look at Astral as well.

Having been in your place a few months ago, my money-no-object choice were the Quills for that extra internal width, but ended up going with DT R460 as I got them for $42 each locally.

Any longer term comments or reviews on the "New" Open Pro UST rims? Early on there were some concerns about the light-ish weight and long term durability.

At clearance prices these are among the cheapest modern wide-profile rim.

For Mavic fans, there are a bunch of A319’s out there (wide internal, double eyelets, MSW) being blown out at low prices- under $100 a pair, shipped. Not the lightest rim but super robust for touring, Eroica style gravel riding, etc. Built up a set of 32’s for the Davidson, which gets used for the aformentioned activies and have been VERY satisfied, currently shod with Panaracer 38’s.

Also a big fan of the Kinlin 240’s, first custom wheels I ever got -11 years ago- laced to WI hubs and they’ve never even had to be retrued. Similar to the above, somebody got ahold of a bunch on blowout and got a pair for $67 shipped,which now reside laced to Tricolor hubs on the Bob Jackson.

Yes, many. Light years better than any mavic rim, IMHO. Velocity, made in USA, make some really great rms. Been building with them for a long time(decades)...

H plus Son TB14 is your best bet, IMHO.
