I rode the Schwalbe beach race tire in 700 x 55mm,
They later labelled it a gravel tire I think.
Fast on the beach, but in a roll down my buddies were just as fast on mtb tires on the road.
Sidewall was very fragile. Light mtb XC tires for me now.

I did notice the other day that there's no S-works tires available bigger than 42mm or smaller than 2.2".

The lifetime racers are going to force some product planning changes, I think.

The Thunder Burt SuperRace looks terrific, but I suspect they run true to size and a bit too big for my 50mm cap.

Has anyone tried the Pirelli Cinturado H in 700x50?

I have a set of the Pirellis in 50mm here, but I have not tried them yet.

Not sure if those are Ramblers or what, but i have been enjoying Rambler 50s on my bike this summer. Enough meat on the ground for spicy rides, not so draggy that the paved and hardpack feels ugh.

Curious about the Aspen ST experience too, but none of my drop bar bikes fit 29x2.25.

I've been using Ramblers 700x40 120 tpi/exo for years and they have been
a great all around tire, supple, good grip. I would suspect that the 50's would be similar.

Reading all these posts is making me wonder I'm being a dumbie by not just running a wider tire in my gravel bike. The giant tcx advanced sx (aka mouthful model name) came stock with 40's. I'm running 35's right now and the tirreno dry tires measure at 38 on my rims.

I wonder if I'm actually shorting myself by not just running something that's a 40 or so with a 42-43 width as measured... The gravel around here is pretty tame, but I like to be able to take the bike on trips. Only issue is that my gravel riding involves a fair bit of road riding too, almost 50-50 so it would eat away at nice tires.

I don't think you're giving away a bunch by not running wider tires. Ride what works for your terrain and paved/dirt mix. One of my favorite things about my bike is running everything from 27.5x 2.25" XC tires down to 32mm GP5000s depending on the menu. My Stigmata is my only drop bar bike, but I have 3 wheel sets and I'm comfortable swapping the tires around as needed.

If I could only keep one set of wheels/tires on it, it would probably be 700x47 Pathfinder Pro.

I threw the Pirellis on the Intense 951 and got it out for a couple of rides. The tire is comfortable, stable and does ride nicely on the mixed surface roads out here. It is comfortable on the paved roads, but at 50mm the typical drawback of not feeling very fast is there.

It's a great tire for an all terrain bike. It rides well and is capable over rougher stuff and loose sand. It handles chunky gravel sections well. It feels fast on the hardpack. I like them so far on the Intense as I think they match up well with this bike.
