+100... Standard old school road geo with clearance for fat tires. Perfect for just about everything except maybe single track and/or Alamanzo.

I see. Because I have an old Colnago as well, only black in color. But it's like the one above. I imagine I couldn't use tires as wide as a purpose-built CX frame, which might limit traction, correct? I mean, if a 28mm in back is all I could (possibly) work with.

But anyway I've been thinking of doing something with the frame because there's gravel roads around where I live, and wouldn't want to put my Couer d'Acier on them. Any suggestions?

My Zanc is a cross bike but it rides so well on the road too.

For me its comfort VS rim protection, I can ride virtually everywhere in 28mm @ 75-80 psi

Here's My Trusty Gravel Steed...

custom Meech...Chorus 11 cf in the pic...sporting Athena 11 alloy now, and a modified cheapo Truvativ triple turned compact-double (46/30).

She's sporting 32c Grifo XSs in the pic, but they were closer to 34c on A23s and were a tight fit to the chainstays.

She's now running Kenda SmallBlock 8s 35c (but more like 33c)...their profile seems to offer better clearance.

If I was to do it all over again, I would opt for clearance for 42s.

I sometimes think about putting a front disc fork on her...sometimes.

Hmmm...so the 28mm doesn't rub? Mine is a DT shifter like yours - all vintage. I have a set of Mavic Kysrium clinchers. Do you think 28mm will work on those wheels?

It's an Independent Fabrication with Wound Up fork. I bought it from Gary at this year's NAHBS.

Gorgeous.

We are doing three weekends in a row in Lanesboro before Almanzo.

I would love to see that hot rod in person.

Just a thought......

Bunch of us are doing 45 miles tomorrow down there on our 29ers.

I'm bringing my Fargo.

Should be a hoot.
