Did a ride today with a friend and we both wore the masks even though we were far more than 6 feet apart most of the time. This particular riser topped off at 16% before the top. He went to the big ring for pictures.

Photos from your rides.

Lovely day, nice break from recent heat. First miles on the Peg after its head tube paint touch-up (thanks to Hern Montenegro who corrected my butchered attempt)

here is a 1000 yr old ginkou tree I was stopped at today. Quite rightly has a shrine attached, anything that old and living deserves reverence.
the bus stop name is simply "in front of the ginkou tree"

Some of my rides in Nanjemoy go down Baptist Church Road. There's a ranch there with Texas Longhorns.

They weren't out grazing yesterday when we went by, but just up the road, Hancock Run was in flood and there were several inches of water on the road. I saw a car stop and do a U-turn, unwilling to cross the flood, so I stopped to assess the situation. And then I took a close look across the road - a place I've passed a million times over the years, but never actually looked at very closely, and thought it was worth photographing.

I’ve ridden past there countless times and never knew about that tree. In fact, I did that just this morning. Very cool.

Chappaquiddick

Took the bikes across to Chappy this morning, rode most of the island. Spectacular ride, osprey, herons, red tails, surf, ancient twisted beeches, old native burial ground...

Ride yesterday on the Rensselaer Plateau . . .

. . . east of Albany. I rode up the long gradual hill of Plank Road, then down what we locally call the "Berlin Wall", then back up Bly Hollow Road. I'd never been on that during a club ride and now Iknow why--18% grade! Aaaagh!

Today's gravel ride with friends . . .

. . . out of S&S Farm Brewery near Nassau in Columbia County, NY. Good thing it was a friendly casual pace, because after yesterday's hill climb from Hell ride my legs were friend like the Colonel's chicken! It was the first gravel ride following followup surgery for my girlfriend Ruth. She crashed at a charity ride last September 14, and now have nine screws and a plate in her left shoulder. Her son Shawn is also getting into cycling and came along on his gravel bike.

There are literally hundreds of miles of dirt roads in Columbia County, which plays host to the Farmer's Daughter ride every spring, and many of these roads lead to S&S, where the very kind owners don't mind if we park in their lot to go do our gravel rides, even when the brewery is not open.
