70 miles around the Island today, hit all six towns. Nicest day yet, in the low 50s, clear, modest wind speeds (finally!). Still loving this Firefly, even more with the light blingy wheelset. Wish the motor had more watts

Photos from your rides.

Sudden heat wave in SoCal after a quite chilly Spring to date. The Malibu hills are lush and green

Took out the Calfee for a short spin of 32 miles and 2,500 ft of climbing. Had to cut my second climb short because of too many people...so many that the road half way up Cheyenne Canyon was blocked with so many cars...so much for people social distancing.

Had a great although slow ride despite trying to avoid all the people.IMG_20200425_141150-01.jpgIMG_20200425_150800-01.jpgIMG_20200425_150812-01.jpg

Thankfully, I've only had one ride where I had to turn around and go home due to people not keeping distance.

Good ride today, but nothing like Colorado Springs. Years ago, I had friends at the top of Woodland Park. 8500' as I recall? Their deck looked out to Pikes Peak. I would ship my bike out and visit once a year. Great riding! Garden Of The Gods is Stunning and a good place to acclimate. Miss those rides.

Gbcoupe,

Garden of the Gods is one of my favorites but I know there would have been an insane number people there.

I ride up to Woodland Park occasionally. I need to get ride of some of this winter/Covid19 weight before I head up again. Hwy 24 is very sketchy from Manitou Springs up to the turn off for the climb up Pikes Peak. I only go really early to avoid traffic since there is little to no shoulder on that stretch of road and several times you have to hug a rock wall.

I hope to maybe take on Pikes Peak later this year. I have done My. Evans a couple of times but I hear Pikes Peak is shorter and harder.

Today's agenda substituted yard work for riding, which makes me even more grateful for the photos and ride reports here.

Thank you all!

My 1st ride there was Woodland Park to Colorado Springs and then back up. I was young, in good shape, well hydrated and plenty of food. Was fine until close to Woodland Park on the return. I didn't bonk, just had no energy. No troubles breathing, just no speed at all. It was really quite strange. After that, every year I spent a day doing laps at Garden Of The Gods 1st, and then I was fine.

Yes, it certainly takes a bit to acclimate to the altitude. Garden of the Gods is a good place.

A couple of years ago I rode from Colorado Springs to Conifer through Woodland Park, Deckers and Foxton in prep for Ride the Rockies.
80 miles and 8,000 of climbing.

Unfortunately, Ride the Rockies is not happening this year but I hope to do the Conifer ride several times this year once the Covid 19 stuff lifts and things are safe again. Some of my wife's family lives in Conifer which makes for a good reason to do it.

cherry blossoms from JPN

I bailed out on a climb as I was feeling fat and slow and headed down a valley road I hadn't taken before. This little park was just what I needed to revive my mood. Full blossom is called 満開 "mankai" in Japanese. This is pretty much as full as it gets before the petals start falling. The road I took was still covered in snow in the shaded patches and had a few places that weren't fully repaired from the super typhoon damage we had last October Oh and I had to climb out of the valley as the river flowing downstream was through a cement quarry where they blast regularly, no access roads. Felt good though.

^What a beautiful spot to come upon. Little else beats getting a minute to bask in cherries (and crabs) in full bloom.
