The US does not get any of the good stuff. I am actually surprised we got manuals and why I went out and bought a brand new car (first time ever) but I had no choice since I could not find one at a lot.

I guess its a good thing because if we ever get the R wagon, I will have to have a talk with the wife

If the RS6 came to the US I’d have a lot of explaining to do...

ah, I won't even go there because there would not be enough explaining but yeah the RS6 is indeed the ultimate wagon

Also, the BMW 3-series wagon is not coming to America anymore, sadly.
And there have been reports that the next gen Golf won't have a wagon in the US either. :-(

Not surprised..VWs SUV lineup outselling Wagons but a large amount.

I would never consider a CRV/Rav4/Anyother wee SUV...

I had a couple of problems with my Alltrack when it hit 20,000 miles that necessitated a few rental/loaner cars, including a Rav 4 and a Chevy Equinox. There's just no comparison. I really disliked those SUVs and I would hate to be forced into one. I really don't see what the attraction is: the only good part about them is the wagon body, and you don't have to sit way high up in an overly large vehicle you can't even see out of to have the utility of a wagon body.

loving my GSW and...

I have to say the only thing my good old RAV4 did better was the ease of getting in and out of it. I do have to be a bit of a pretzel with my 68 year old body to fold myself into my VW. Stepping up a bit to get into an SUV is something lots o people like...and more upright driving position. At 17K miles, no issues yet. No pano leaks.

some of the newer SUVs sit relatively low to the ground. from a distance, they look like wagons. Thinking of the likes of the Volvo XC60 and such. Wonder if they might drive a bit like a wagon if the suspension is tuned and/or chassis lowered more?

And I must say, the new Rav4 looks pretty legit..

Was thinking the hybrid model, but then realized that hybrids dont get great mileage on the highway which is all i do. i think its 1 mpg better than the non-hybrid version.

they look ok, but drive one, then drive the VW.
thats where my choice was clear. some folks dont care how their cars drive, so long as they meet other criteria. and thats cool, cars are just tools after all.
I couldn't pull the trigger on the rav 4 or outback because the drive was just so so. felt like i would give up 5 years or more of lovely driving for some features i really may not ever use but once a year?
