The Full Meal Deal!

Yesterday, I took advantage of some of the best winter trail conditions I've ever ridden and probably enjoyed myself more than a guy in his mid-60s is supposed to. Enjoy! 🥂

Easter Morning Ride

I love the versatility of my gravel bike—from pavement to gravel roads to trails. It's the most fun way for me to explore our world on two wheels.

We've Got The Band Back Together! (part of it, anyway)

Now that we're mostly vaccinated, we're lifting the moratorium on our group rides during the pandemic. It was nice to see these guys again!

Out for a ride on the oldies. The Frejus is as old as I am. Hard to believe that’s what a bike looked like the year I was born.

Earth Day Gravel Ride

The Earth Day ride is a 53 mile (85 km) gravel ride along some beautiful winding country roads east of Northfield, MN. It was scheduled for last Saturday but had to be canceled again this year due to the pandemic. Several people, including me, did the ride on our own instead.

Loop to Murphy and an Interview

Salsa Cycles was out at Murphy yesterday interviewing riders about mountain biking and what it means to them. I was happy to help. They're gathering snippets of audio to be used in an upcoming ad to be released in June.

River Bottoms Loop from Home

The river bottoms are currently mostly free of bugs (except for the emerald ash borer) making it an excellent time to ride them. I do worry what the landscape will look like once the ash borer has finished decimating the ash trees throughout the area. This ride is a good mix of pavement and trails, ideal for my gravel bike.

TNG - There's Beer at the Finish!

Tuesday Night Gravel rides are a thing again. Thanks to Ben at Heath Creek Cycles for the beer and for hosting us on his patio after the ride.

Dog Encounter

I met up with some friends yesterday morning for an 89 mile (143 km) ride. My only regret was not bringing my rear-facing GoPro along. We had an encounter with a very determined pit bull that would've made for some good video – I caught the forward-facing view of the incident. One of our riders notified the sheriff's office about the loose pup as it's been a problem in the past. It's just a matter of time before the dog or a rider is hurt in an altercation with it. Other than that, it was a beautiful day to be on a bike.
