Been wanting to do this for awhile. Finally got around to converting a Dura Ace 9000 derailleur to a long cage to replace the 105 shadow long cage I had on my road Ellis.
Works with 34/34 low gear without b-screw mod or Roadlink. Although I'll do my best >not< to go into that gear. |

Re-installing the what? Cornering weight? Broomstick for the steerer tube?

It’s a piece of dogwood that inserts inside the bottom of the steerer to reinforce it in the unlikely event that the steerer fails while you are hammering across the cobbles in Paris Roubaix, etc....

Gotcha. Figured that's what it was, but not familiar with the nomenclature.

This Franklin came from a friend a bit ago. It's pretty interesting; brazed with True Temper RCX and Columbus dropouts. The fork legs are very slim.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with it, especially after reading about some of the potential issues with RCX. Franklin 1 by Christopher Corbran, on Flickr Franklin 2 by Christopher Corbran, on Flickr Franklin 3 by Christopher Corbran, on Flickr |

It sounds way more important when called by its French name.....

I had an old 6700GS kicking around so pilfered from that, but a 6800GS should work as well.

No way I'm riding a bike that needs a stick to bolster the steerer. Call me crazy! |
