The Canadian keeper played very well.
Kept them in it, for the first 90.

Splat!

Oh well, perhaps it's better that the USMNT failed to reach the finals. Maybe then they will take the Gold Cup a little more seriously than fielding a B team (or maybe just decide to field a U23 team exclusively & take it as a development opportunity. Right now, this "half & half" B team approach is awkward).

Overall, I thought Sands was MOTM. Turner played well. I put this loss squarely on coaching. Not switching to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 way earlier gave Panama way too play. Tactically they were miles better in the first half. Busio was getting exposed defensively the entire first half & Sands could not be everywhere. You could tell both FBs were tired. We also played such a high line, which played into Panama's long ball approach. Yedlin coming on in the second half also helped immensely (that right side was so wide open even into extra time. USMNT didn't exploit that enough).

I was expecting a closer match, but in the end, Germany's quality shone through.

Some horrid defending by the U.S. backline. Chris Richards never bothering to get in line with his teammates (thereby playing the German attackers on-side) and then raising an arm probably sums up the shambolic defending.

Also need someone other than Pulisic in attack...

Robinson's backflips were as impressive as his goal.

Snarky reply: In that case, I suggest he spend a bit less time on the pitch practicing back flips and more time working on his ball skills.

Ream - MOTM (speaks volumes to the general offensive standing around & ball watching. Argh). Impeccable awareness & passing out of the back. He crushed it.

Aaronson & Pepi clutch subs (again). They should both start Monday. They earned it.

Wonder what the return leg will be like. Th USMNT did not make it easy on itself, waiting until 80th plus minute to get the first goal. But at least the team did it.

Yes, Ream seemed more interested than the attackers in getting the ball moving vertically, if his header had found the other side of the post it would've been deserved.

Robinson did eventually hit on one of his many crosses into the area. Dest was frustrating to me, the through balls to nowhere ended too many moves.
